Where's the pics of the new 2520? Just wandering.....

"Just got back. The salesman has his own office inside my favorite 40 year old JD dealership. So I don't think this is a scam. A brand new machine with 0.1 hours on the clock is sitting there just waiting for a new 62D deck to be delivered." from earlier post.

I was gone a few days fishing and haven't caught up on this thread. I didn't think to bring the camera to the dealer. Besides, I could take a picture of any 2520 at any dealer if I was trying to kid anyone. It just looks like a new 2520. They have to install a block heater, a brush guard, the R4 tires that I requested, and the hardware for the 62D deck when it comes in. They did not have a new deck when I saw the tractor and back blade. I may go in Monday just to see that they have a "sold" sign on the tractor they showed me. I should also find out Monday when the deck will arrive. Then I'm supposed to be going in to sign papers. I'll keep you all posted. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

:) If you have any doubts at this point (and it sounds like you do), then for sure we do as well or more so. ;)

We are waiting for the other shoe to fall.......if it does.

It was posted above JD was doing this same deal on the same model in Canada last year so it is not that uncommon. What is uncommon is finding a three year old tractor that is near show room quality required by JD to do the deal is my understanding.:thumbsup:

Update: Dealer called today to let me know the timing of this deal. Wanted to know if I was OK ordering a new machine from the factory. He originally gave me that option but I told him the quicker we close the deal the better. He said his sales manager would like to keep the machine they showed me because it's the only new machine on their lot. So they would like to give me the next one they have on order scheduled to arrive first week in June. He said the 62D deck will take two weeks anyway so for two weeks more I get a tractor fresh from the factory. I was OK with that. He wants me to stop by to sign the sales agreement so we both know the deal is closed. I will stop by and sign papers on Thursday. In the mean time, he's OK with the 20 or so more hours I will be putting on my machine in May. I said before that I'm still crossing my fingers, at least until the papers are signed, which will be on Thursday.

I think it is all quite POSSIBLE.
Incredibly unlikely, very IMPROBABLE - but still POSSIBLE.
======================================================
There was a time when Micro-$oft had no "protection" on what it called its operating system - Dross somethingorother.

You were SUPPOSED TO pay for it, but it was widely distributed via sneaker-net and widely known that they wanted market-share (more importantly MIND share) for the long term more than money for the short term.
OK, so software copies are a lot cheaper to make than tractor copies, but if this dealer is determined to drive out all other brands in the area this COULD be a lost leader for a long term goal.
=======================================================
Again, COULD BE - although incredibly unlikely,,,

Another possibility is that after 40 years they are about to close up and retire anyway.
There could be all sorts of reasons for a massive fire sale of new inventory.

My imagination just went to the post about GM and I remembered the massive closings of Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler dealerships.
If JD are about to shut down some franchises ... if, If, IF, maybe this dealer has a NEED to off load all his new inventory and become a used equipment dealer.
Not to start a false rumor, so let me re-state that; "If JD is about to pull THAT dealer's franchise maybe they have a need to off-load all their new inventory and become a used equipment dealer.."
If that were the case my guess is that they would limit it to a model (or two) for a while to hold onto the secret.

Guesses, all guesses (-:

If you are paying the $500 as cash and no financing is required, why is it necessary to sign papers?
What papers?
