I have spent the last few days going over the dump to make sure everything is welded and where it's supposed to be, then got out the finnish grinders and the DA sander and cleaned the whole thing up. No pics but I am loading it up and taking it to a guy in the morning who said he would primer coat it for $75. I will get some pics before I leave. I took the hydraulics and electrics back off so he could paint it easier. I can't wait to see it with paint on it!!! :licking:

That's not bad for a coat of paint. Does that include any additional prep, or does he shoot the paint on whatever you bring him?

I just took it to Joe Miller welding and fab. They are going to shoot the primer on it for me. Then I will do the final color.

Pics of it on the trailer getting ready to go!
The shop is about 3 miles from my house.

I had to look it up, but after further enlightenment via wikipedia, I understand...

"Scheib's policy of one-day service and production line techniques...caused the company to become a national joke at the time."

You must be a lot younger than I give you credit for!!!!!!!
Back in the 70's it was not uncommon to see a car going down the street with all the crome tapped off and all the windows masked except for the windshield, and you just knew it was headed to Scheibs!

I was alive for part of the 70's. I've made enough mistakes and had enough go wrong to equal the experience of many men twice my age. Of course, I'm not above "borrowing" experience from the likes of you by watching the progress and learning along on excellent builds like this dump trailer you're doing.

Can't wait to see pics of the painted trailer ready for use.

Earl Scheib paint job--what did that used to cost? $59.95 or something like that?
