my version of a KK xb dump trailer

I've got a 14' trailer, which was built to haul a Bobcat. The axles are back a bit further than normal, because of the "special build". If I get a load of sand or whatever, I have to have them load it toward the back (centered over the axles) or the hitch gets too much weight and drops the back of the truck.

Build a plywood box, maybe 12 in square, the width of the bed. Place it in the front of the bed when hauling dirt or gravel. Remove it when hauling light stuff.

Or, consider extending the rear of the bed to re-balance the load. I know... more welding and painting. But, not as involved as modifying the undercarriage.

and I am sorry guys but I wouldn't sell it for $3000!! :)
I have used it several times and I sure do like it!!! Thanks for all the encouragement and help on this my first blogged build. And I really liked that I got over 15,000 views!!!! who wuda thunk it!! :D
Also a special thanks to Iplayfarmer for doing his dump first and giving me the corage to do my own.
The next project has been purchased and is what appears to be the predesessor to the John Deere Gator. I will get the pics up soon as I get it home. It will be a total rebuild and needs an engine.

cost to build vs buying one?? assuming yer time is free i still think you get alotta money in materials...
people approach me with builds like that quite a bit since im a welder /fabber but the cost of iron anymore makes it usually prohibitive unless they want something custom or job specific

A valid point, no question! But, speaking for myself: The time I spend on my project is spare time and where some would go golfing, fishing, or other such pursuits which typically have user fees attached, my project does not and in addition I have the personal satisfaction of seeing it moving along at whatever pace I set. In the end I have something to show for my activity, unlike simply a score, taking golf as an example. Not to belittle golf as an activity. Since I take little interest in golf, I leave it for those who do.

Well TSC sells one that is half the capacity and has a hand pump and also has smaller tires and they are quite proud of it for $2200!!!!!!!!!!!!
I could of and should have saved the $125 to prime it but other than that I paid $.15 a pound for the steel, the 3" cylinder was $30, power pack was qiven to me, If you can get these mtls. cheaper than that I gota find out where you are shopping!!!!!!
The tires are 23x10.50x12 and brand new at TSC are $109 each without the rims! Thats more than I have in the whole trailer!!!!!
