Jerky LSeries 3pt Hitch Fixed

The valve body mounts on top of the rear axle housing and is a very unique shape. I seriously doubt that you could have a different looking body with the same internal valve parts.

can you tell by looking at the outside of the rear of the tractor if i have the grand L or standard valve

Joker, congrats on the smooth 3 pt.. I am very interested in seeing what was done to smooth out your 3 pt. I have been looking for a tractor for months and like the L3800 but when I tested one I couldn't stand the jerky hitch and held off til I see if a fix is in:D I hope it is just an adjustment but have my doubts. I have been to a number of kubota dealers and none seem to see a fix for the current valve. It is annoying when you find a tractor with the footprint you like, weight, and power and than have one obvious flaw that would make it a no sell. Keep us posted....

Joker please try to get as much detailed info from your tech/dealer as you can. I was so jealous when I saw your video.
I've got a couple of 40-45lb rocks on my BB for extra weight and my 3pt hitch will literally bounce/toss those rocks off it's so jerky.
Please, any info you can get will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
j

Joker, I hope you are sleeping in the bucket of that tractor. If not, you may wake up one morning and have an L3400, L2800 or even an L3700 sitting where that L3800 used to be.

Nope, not making any threats........but not making any promises either! :confused3:

Is it ever that simple?

So here's a thought... Since this smooth 3 point hitch mean that ALL of the other standard "L" tractors have valves that are NOT adjusted properly... From what I've seen/heard, THIS is an example of a properly adjust L3800 valve and that ALL of them should work like this!!! WHAT AM I MISSING? Anyone else agree?

but why would kubota not adjust them properly to begin with, since they have gotten so much **** over this. Seems if you could just adjust them they all would be fixed to solve the issue, Not tell people its normal

IF (and that is a big IF) they were able to "up-grade" the valve to the Grand-L style, so what? I am still not sure why every one thinks they should get the best 3 point valve available on an economy tractor. Kubota has sold 10s of 1,000 of these units and the "normal" valve that is supplied with them works for over 90% of the people who buy them. If you want a better valve, then buy the better tractor. Sorry, but to me this is no different than saying that your L3800 does not have tilt steering and you want it so it should be given to you for free. If you want tilt steering, buy the model that has tilt steering, don't buy the most basic tractor and then get mad because you don't have all the best features. If all you do is use the 3-point, then you should have tried it out before you purchased it. If "everyone" who has one knows it is so bad (as most people hear act like), then it should have been easy for you to figure out that there was a "problem" before you made your purchase. I know that these thoughts won't go over very well on this post, but really, it is the truth.

They simply want to know if there's an adjustment that would result in tilt steering :confused3:

I would love to see that as an Option!!! It would bring the attention to the jerky 3ph, IMO. kubota sells the economy line as a "Standard", which when I bought mine should have meant "like all others" and that should have meant that at the worst, the 3ph should work like all other tractors. To me, I think of the jerky valve as being Sub-Standard, not even close to standard.

I agree with your post... but just like the tilt steering is pointed out, the jerky 3ph should also be pointed out to unsuspecting buyers. Buyers that often don't know what they are getting into...

Coming from a "A service manager for a larger tractor dealership", huh...

This is both a safety and performance issue. Why do you have to test one of the most basic and essential parts of a tractor??? Besides a FEL and mid-mount mowers what else do you do with a tractor that doesn't involve the 3pt? Its also a little difficult to upsell to a grand L if they don't tell you. Comparing a non-jerky 3pt hitch to tilt steering is classic, LOL.
