running on 3 cy;s didn't hurt it. now.. that said.. whatever made it run on 3 cyls might be an issue.. but generally is an ignition issue.. in rare cases you see bad stuff like a stuck valve or holed piston.. etc. ( again why I said you can't offer much on a non runner!! )

After reading Soundguy's post about the carburetor I forgot to ask him about that. So I called him back and he said he took the carb off and rebuilt it for his 8n, but realized a NAA carb doesn't fit a 8n hahaha. So he claims he's got a fresh rebuilt NAA carb that will go with it.
The issue I am having now is basically that he thinks it's a jewel, and the truth is it needs work.
One more thing that scares me that maybe you guys can help me with - he ran it on 3 cylinders for several hours about 2 years ago before putting it up to sit. (scrape bladed his dirt driveway, did some bushhogging). What type of secondary damage can doing this cause?
By the way, it's not going anywhere, so I'm still sitting at 400 for now. I need to go look at it again and somehow see just how bad some of the parts are (hydraulics, cylinder, etc) Also like Soundguy said I need to see if it was winterized as even down here in Alabama we had a very cold winter.
