Kioti DK50SE HST, FEL, 2 rear remotes, WR Long joystick electric remote. Tooth Bar, Canopy, 2 hooks on the bucket, Liquid filled R4's, New Woods BB72X Brush Hog, Used WR Long Rock Grapple, and an orange hat for hunting season...

Howzat?

Looks good to me.. now now more checking the baffles or Crazy Ivan's for that matter. Go 100% on the reactor, and get to work with that new machine..
So Congratulations David, it is been fun riding along with you.:) Don't be a stranger now, keep checking in and let us know how everything is going, and if you are new to operating, take it easy until you get the feel of that big powerful beautiful machine.

Dave, Wow, I looked up the specs on that FEL the KL401 I am assuming that is what will be on your new DK50 and man that is some loader, over 2700 lbs of lift over 3700 lbs of breakout, and over 4600 lbs of rollback force.. holy cow, I am impressed, that is a lot of power for a CUT. Of course your new tractor is on the high side of the edge of CUT and UT. You should be able to get a lot done with that bad boy. With a good set of pallet forks, you should be able to pickup small cars.:D Dont forget to put some good weight on the rear if you start slinging cars around.

It sounds like a really nice tractor. We usually get three bucket hooks, but two should do it. I still haven't put any on one of my tractors though.

RRR,

Where do you place the hooks? Why 3?

Dealer asked me on the top or on the sides?

I did not know what to say!!!:confused2:

I'm just doing what TBN says to do!!!!

James,

Are you a bubblehead too? I served on the USS Bluefish SSN 675 in the mid 1980's...

I'm going to take it easy, I promise. I'm going to order the tilt indicator too...

I'm also going to stay active here, but maybe fewer posts until I actually know something and can contribute.

TBN was awesome, I have learned so much here. Now I need time in the seat.

Thanks,
David

2 in line with the loader arms, and 1 in the center. I did not put the 1 in the center, as I was thinking about putting other things there later. like maybe thumb base,, or maybe 2 inch reciever.. or .. or..

the reason for in line with the loader arms is so if you do hook with one chain, if they are outside the line of the loader arms, then you have some more leverage to start that dreaded tilt of your tractor, as in lets say they are on the left edge of the bucket, and you hook to an immovable object, now the right rear tire wants to come up if you keep on putting pressure with the FEL control. If you hook on right side , then left rear tire wants to come up. Not saying it still can't happen but with in line with loader arms then less leverage to lift rear. If hooking with hook in center, then both arms lift evenly, and less likely to "tweak/bend/spring" the loader arms. The key to not tearing stuff up or turning over is to go slow, and think everything thru before doing it. If you have only 2 hooks, a good way to hook up to something is to run chain from object in middle and hook to both hooks evenly. so pull in centered. You may see some hooks on the sides on my bucket also, but they are there mostly for tiedown of bulky objects not ot pull/lift with. The Pull/lift hooks are in line with the loader arms.. Hope this helps.

Yes SIR! KL401 with 72" bucket and grill guard!

Now that I got the grapple I was not planning on buying, I'm not certain I will get pallet forks unless I can get a smoking deal on a used set.

I did get the filled rear tires (R4's) for ballast. Do you think I need more?

As to the size, I'm worried that now that I've added the canopy, with the ROPS folded down I won't be able to get it in the shed I planned to park it in. the door is 8' wide, but in not sure how tall it is... I might need to remove the entire front!

I'm excited. I tried to get it delivered before hurricane Irene arrives here in VA, just in case...

David, I put 5 on my 78" wide bucket and those are over an added 3/8" 2"x2" angle. Best to keep things straight while you can. I also added some 3/8" plate to the sides. ;)

By the way, the hooks are about $4-$5 and it takes just a few minutes to weld them on.. Now that is a whole "nuther" thing, but when you get all settled in and loving that big hoss of a tractor your getting. The next thing to think about is a welder. We will teach you.. Then you can put hooks wherever you want them, and Reinforce the top of the loader, and make things.. Think about it. All you life you can remove metal in a lot of different way. you can saw/file/grind etc. BUT until the day you get your welder you cannot put back so much as single iron filing of metal. With a welder you are the king of the world, you can make your metal world however you like it. And if you don't like it, you can grind/cut it off and put it back on! Good luck David

Do you need rear ballast.. Yes without a doubt, at least a 1000 lbs on the 3pt. You can use your Rotary cutter, I am not sure how much it weighs, and it sticks out far so it may be enough, just go easy on full bucket loads of heavy material until you get a feel for "tippyness". and rear end lift. Keep you hand on the loader control when ever you lift and move.. never take it off, as long as it is loaded with heavy material or you are moving. You have to be ready at all times to drop that bucket down on the ground if the rears lift or tilt. Remember LOW.. keep your bucket low when moving. Just barely above the ground, with it curled back, move slow at first until you get the feel of things. You can never be too safe..And sooner or later you will raise the rears and/or start to tilt. Everyone has done it I am convinced. Even those who wont talk about it. The trick is to be ready with that hand on the joystick. and let the load hit the dirt. Not trying to scare you David, operating a loader is one of the things I enjoy most in life. It is like therapy for me, I can forget a lot of my troubles when I am moving material with a loader. But it is a responsibility to yourself and your loved ones to do it right and safe.
