Some times you can hit the reserve on an 8n, unless you fully opened it*?
all the time... from 6v up to 36v....
One simple electric shutoff will save HOW MANY qts. of oil when you forget to shut off the manual valve???
Personally, i shut off fuel valves even on my ATV's, small equipment, etc.. I set parking brakes on everything.. but some people don't...
Its NOT a complicated fix, its actually quite simple... to each his own I guess..
that's a fix for a problem that already has a fix. IE.. turning the fuel off under the tank.
sure it will work.. but is extra expense.. then you are cutting the hard line and plumbing in the solenoid. and when / if it ever fails.. you are stuck for a bit till you get a new one, or bypass it with a line and 2 unions.. or go the unsafe route with a rubber hose/fire starter opportunity.
none of my gassers have electric shutoff's.. don't need it.. ford provided for a shuttoff under the tank.

If you have a diesel powered tractor, you better hurry up and get that fuel shutoff solenoid removed and just put a fuel shutoff valve in the fuel line.. that dang overly complicated solenoid is gonna fail some day...![]()
