Change the oil or not??????

that's a fix for a problem that already has a fix. IE.. turning the fuel off under the tank.

sure it will work.. but is extra expense.. then you are cutting the hard line and plumbing in the solenoid. and when / if it ever fails.. you are stuck for a bit till you get a new one, or bypass it with a line and 2 unions.. or go the unsafe route with a rubber hose/fire starter opportunity.

none of my gassers have electric shutoff's.. don't need it.. ford provided for a shuttoff under the tank.

all the time... from 6v up to 36v....
One simple electric shutoff will save HOW MANY qts. of oil when you forget to shut off the manual valve???
Personally, i shut off fuel valves even on my ATV's, small equipment, etc.. I set parking brakes on everything.. but some people don't...
Its NOT a complicated fix, its actually quite simple... to each his own I guess..

What I am referring to is that yes, the factory installed fuel shutoff petcock works... but in circumstances like the OP, the valve was inadvertently left in the run/open position, causing the engine to be flooded with fuel.
This is a waste of fuel, waste of engine oil, a potentially a waste of and engine. I am simply stating that with an electric shutoff valve, it does NOT forget. When you kill the engine, the fuel is also shut off... No chance of forgetting, no lost oil, no flooded engine.
If you have a diesel powered tractor, you better hurry up and get that fuel shutoff solenoid removed and just put a fuel shutoff valve in the fuel line.. that dang overly complicated solenoid is gonna fail some day...:D

No need to. My 3 diesel tractors all have manual fuel shutoffs; no solenoids here.

All my 'ford' branded diesels ( 3000, 5000, and 4600 ) all have manual fuel shutoff pull cables... no solenoids...

My 2 diesels also have manual shut-offs. Simple pull cable going to the injector pump/governor.

off with the starter solenoids.... they might fail one day.... should go with the more reliable hand crank...

i see you are running out of bad cliche's with the fuel system and having to move on to other systems in a desperate grasping attempt to try to make a point eh?

we get it... you like to have more than the needed amount of things in line to turn your fuel off... go for it...

And I see that you have now ran completely out of class...

I was not aware that I needed to make a point, merely offering up a suggestion to help the OP.... BTW...that wasn't you!.
Instead of going on the offensive at somebody offering a suggestion that you may not like, why not just try keeping your mouth shut since it wasn't about your tractor to begin with???.. Seldom does one solution fit every situation... and this is an example of that. While a simple petcock may be all you have ever needed, there could be one reader that is looking for an alternative to trying to remember the petcock... Not sure about others, but thats what I use this forum for, is to gain knowledge and share when able...
I apologize to the OP for this going as far as it did..... I consider this matter closed.

Remember.. if you get to express your opinions.. I get to express mine... 2 way street there PMC

Cool.. now that you've decided to close the matter....back to the discussion!

As an added bonus.. and a stress reliever.. I've added you to my ignore list.

I guess that's gonna generate another 'class' comment.. but at least I won't see it.. ;)
