John, I got a HBL84 blade and I can see how it would be real easy to add a hydraulic off-set cylinder, but it looks like one would have to weld/modify to add angle and tilt.

The heavy duty RB series do have optional hydraulic angle and tilt kits as seen below.

Angle:

Tilt:

Welding on brackets for tilt on a HBL would be pretty straight forward, but angle would be tricky as I don't see a way to add that top arm on a HBL, which would mean welding a bracket to the top of the blade itself, I would think.

Do you have any pictures of yours showing how it was done?

Thanks!

I spent most of the summer checking craigslist without any luck. I called my dealer and he said he'd get me a Woods RB84 for $990 including a trade of my old blade. Not knowing if that was a good deal or not, I emailed another local dealer that handles Landpride and asked for a price on 7ft blade. That price was $1047+tax.

On a lark, I searched and found a dealer in MI that had one listed for $610. Shipping to me was $173. So I got a new blade for $100 less that my local dealer was asking and I can sell my old blade on my own.

I thought about going back to the dealer but he was so far off. Guess I need to find a new local dealer.

So were they all the same quality-duty of blade? All 7' blades are no where near the same. I believe that they can vary in price from 5-$600 on the low end to about $2500 on the high end. You simply cannot go by price and if you saw the 2 extremes side by side you would understand the price difference. So if you got the same blade for $610 that the first dealer wanted $990 plus your old blade, then you did real good. Is that what happened?

Anyone have recommendations on a rear blade? I have a cheap noname blade and the snows from last winter caused it to break. Instead of fixing it and having it break again, I want to buy one that will last.

I looked at the Woods RB72 but there have been some negative threads about it. I have had great experiences with Woods finish & brushbull mowers and I think it's all made in the USA which is a huge plus.

What recommendations do folks have?

Depends on how often and how hard you use a blade....

And some just aren't worth consideration. I wadded up a King Kutter HD blade a few winters ago with nothing more than scraping snow off of a paved parking lot. (using a 5000lb 40hp 2wd tractor)

I've got an RB84 Woods blade now. It's doing "ok", but has a slight bow to the moldboard. (Snow again)

I don't recall the model #, but I've also got an 8' Servis/Rhino hydraulic angle blade that sold new 20 years ago for near $3500. It is a hoss! It'll stand up to torture, but takes a significant tractor just to pick it up....Gonna use it on my 4440 Deere to push snow this winter.

Like ANYTHING, buy the heaviest, highest quality piece you can afford and your tractor can handle. I like a blade at least a foot wider than the tractor so it is still as wide as wheel tracks when angled (45 degree).

I find this attachment thing very confusing and I do read a lot. I just purchased a BX2360 and the dealer says I can't get a used RB60 blade for my tractor as it won't lift high enough. I have to get a new RBC60 from them for $100 more. I realize I only have 12 inch tires, but I don't like the idea of being so limited on attachments. Just venting, I guess. I have to trust the dealer as I am too new to know all the jargon in the tractor world. :confused2:

Part of the problem with the small tractors, limited implement options. :(

Got a question about rear blade and compacted snow. I use a blower with the skid shoes set pretty high, so we tend to pack down some snow over time. (The driveway doesn't melt off 'til spring up here.) Consequently, I like to remove compacted snow periodically during the winter.

I've been using a heavy bucket on a 39 hp tractor for this, but I may sell that beast. This would leave me with a JD2520 with front snowblower. My question is, if I put a 60" rear blade on the back (Dealer has a Frontier RB1060 that weighs about 250 lb, rated to 30 hp), will it pull up compacted snow when driving forward, or will the blade just ride on the compacted snow and do squat. Would it do better if I reverse the blade and back up to push the snow?

Thanks for any thoughts,
Danny

Thanks for sharing Junk. What is the GPM requirement for that blade??
