Hi, all been looking at backhoes and I think I have just found something really special. Found a 590 Turbo with 4 in 1 bucket, extend-a-hoe, cab w/ heat, 2 stick controls, in great condition that was owned by a farmer in great condition. This thing has every option that I have seen. From what I know the 590 has 98HP and is the 580K's big brother. Really looks like a great tractor and will definitely be jumping on it if it all checks out. The only problem is it looks like one of the back tires has a flat, was wondering how much they could be to repair. Also What people thought of the 590's.

Thanks for the help all!:D

My thought is you need to try out the machine with all the tires aired up. If you are ready to buy the machine assuming it checks out let the seller know. Then see what the seller is willing to do about the tire. Most of these can have a tube installed without breaking the bank or loosing a sale (hint), I would be reasonable about it too, if he can air it up enough for you to test drive then you may go ahead with the sale and buy a new tire or tube, check with your tire store for the cost of this.

Oh and it was good to hear that the farmer was in "good condition" too.

Haha. Love typos!

The tires are in good condition besides the one so I will definitely see what e can do about it. Contacted him last night so I hope we can get something done!

What series is the 590? Super L maybe or Super M. Just curious. Your right though, the 590 is the 580's big brother and it is a powerhouse. Especially on the hoe. Every backhoe contractor always wanted the 590, but couldn't either afford it or wasn't able to haul it. I think a 4wd tips the scales close to 18,000 lbs. Your not pullin that with your pick up and gooseneck. Try it out, see how the hydraulics feel. The pins, the transmission etc. Taken care of you should be able to get 10,000 hrs out of her.

As already pointed out, the 590 is a beast of a machine and accordingly heavy. Unless you have a 24K gooseneck, you can forget about moving it yourself. If the machine will be living on your farm, that may not be a problem, unless it needs to go in for repairs. The weight is also a factor in where the machine will work. It's just easier to get a heavy machine stuck.

That's what I thought, and it is just the 590, the first model. I E-Mailed the dealer to try and get something set up but so far has not responded. Think I could haul her too - just have to rent a trailer as I have GMC 4500 that is supposed to haul 24000. It only has about 4000 hours on it too so it should have half a life.

I do have a 4500 that could haul it, I would just need a trailer. Won't travel more than twice a year at most though.

Tires look pretty rough and on is flat would anyone have any idea how much they could be to replace?

Hope you don't have to haul it far, that is a load for a 4500 too. I use a Ford 550 to move my stuff and it is all light compared to a full size backhoe.

About the tires, not much point in asking us is there? Call your local tire store and ask them.

That is a good sized backhoe and if it has the features and setup you want then you may want to have a good mechanic look at it for you.

I am currently considering a 580K a friend of mine has to sell but transporting these around town can be a problem.

i hauled a 580 super m with 4wd 4 and 1 bucket cab with my 2008 chevy 2500 with a daul tadem gooseneck and went about 100 miles round trip with it then i hauled a 580 b and a ford 2000 to oklahoma on the same truck and trailer it all depends on how u load the backhoe and get the weight balanced i had no problems pulling both loads but the trailer has new 14ply tires and 12k alxes but a 4500 would pull that backhoe any where

Being a native of New Orleans I am familiar with what you can get away with on flat land. Heck I pulled a Deere 450 dozer on a dual wheel bumper pull trailer behind an F100 p/u. I was younger and dumber then too.

Living in the mountains now with steep grades being older and hopefully wiser I don't take unnecessary chances with my life and others lives.

Little things can be a big problem if not thought through such as electric brakes, how do you get out af the vehicle when by yourself and chock the trailer tires on a steep slope?

Better to have a larger truck and rig with air brakes on the truck and trailer.
