Dipper Stick snapped in half

Eddie, i think you made the right call.

With it off the machine they can jig it, pull it etc make shure its square/straight.

its easy to move heavy stuff like that if the shop is setup to handle it. overhead grantry cranes, forklifts, 800lb lifting magnets, straps etc.

If Eddie could dig a hole with his dipperstick broken almost in two, fixing it wouldn't be such a priority, don't you think?

Kudos to Eddie, you got it off and delivered to a shop you have confidence in, so they can do the job the way they want to. This repair can't help but be a success.

:laughing::laughing: Did you honestly think I was meaning dig a hole with that backhoe? Eddie has more than one machine that can dig in a pinch.:D
hugs, Brandi

I took off the bucket and then moved the boom over and rested the end of the dipper on the dirt. Then I built a stand to support the weight of the Dipper and plugged the hydraulic lines. After it was all disconnected, I had my dad lift it and put it in the back of my truck.

Thats one way to hold the osb down in the bed of the truck. There are much easier ways though for the future Eddie

I'm glad it came off fairly easy for you and hopefully it will be fixed and back together quickly.

FWIW, I would have strapped that down quite differently in the bed of the truck.

With any heavy object the real issue is not preventing it from sliding backwards, it is preventing a forward slide.

The brakes are ~3 times as strong as the engine, and there are situations when you have very little control over how hard to apply the brakes. There is never a situation where you must accelerate hard.

Good (and quick) job, Eddie. You'll be back to diggin' in the mud again soon. I couldn't help but look at the muddy tires as your dad loaded the dipper and be a bit jealous. It's been a long time since we've had enough rain to cause mud like that. :)

I saw that to Jim and thought, mud in Texas, now I know Eddie made up the whole story.
