Bedder/hiller fabrication

I'm also in the thinking stage for one and will probably build one this winter. I'm going to attempt to build a double hiller....basically to make 2 hills on one pass....I'm thinking it will work well, anyone doubt the thought?

Thanks everyone for the great ideas and links.

Jim Gerken that's exactly what I'm looking for. I'll post pics when it's done.

I'm trying to figure out how that would work. What's your rear tractor width?
I guess you'd have to have one hill outside the tires and off to one side?

Jim,
I have two on the way. $83.00 with shipping.

Here's Ted's from EA. He has a video on it also.

Tractor 3 Point Hitch Garden Bedder 48",Potato Hiller, Hiller,GB48, Furrowing Attachment with Shovel Point Optional,14" Ball Bearing Disc, Quick Attach 3pt hitch

Looks like a pretty straight forward design, he does talk about putting the row groover behind the discs which makes sense to me. Why not do it?

I'm not sure about the tines to dig up the tire tracks but I talked to the misses and she seems to think it's a good idea not to let things pack down if you don't have to so I'll add them too if I have room.

I was thinking that that the outer discs wouls be 6' apart (the width of the tractor and the inner discs almost touching each other. When you drop the tire into the outer row the outside should line up....maybe I'm thinking wrong, but it sure sounds good to me???? Of course I'm not hilling potatoes either.

Modn,
I'm not sure, I'd have to see it but it seems like the tires would compress the ground and reduce the effectiveness of the outer discs.
