Another Mini-Dozer

The reason I'm not going with hydraulics is that I'm on a very tight budget and as it is, I'm going to have a little over $2,000.00 in it. I already have the electric actuators from previous projects...

I can understand your situation. Do yourself a favor, though. At least make a plan for the hydraulics... A place to mount a pump and a valve. If you make the right plans now, adding hydraulics when the money comes in will be a cheap option. If you don't plan now, it will be expensive later.

I purchased them from Northern Equipment but I don't recommend them to anyone.They are too slow and barely have enough power to raise and lower the box blade that I made (see photo).

How much will this little beast weigh when completed ?

I don't have any idea. I guess it could be calculated but I don't really want to. I'll just have to make a mini lowboy trailer for it and take it down to the local mill to be weighed.

Yeah. That's about par for the course with linear actuators. But, if you have them, use them. They beat moving stuff by hand.

I too have found them gutless. Problematic as well.

Plans ? What plans ? I am pretty much using the dimensions off of the Struck plans for the transmission. I can send you them if you wish. Every thing else I just kind of lay out as I go. I was born too long ago to know about auto-cad (I do like to make sketches on "paint" though ). I think it would be the smartest if we waited until it was finished and used for a while. I would be very surprised if some changes won't need to be made, especially on the track system. I'll be glad to answer your questions but really as Jethro on the Beverly Hillbillies once said "most of the fun comes from do'in your own cypherin !" By the way Mr.cschulz you sure are good at finding the deals. That motor is basically the same as mine and it is $110.00 cheaper. Lets see how good you are at finding the same track chain that Struck used.

Yes it does get warm. You need to wrap the pipe with heat wrap and wear an extra set of BVD's.

That is really cool ! I'd like to see how the drivetrain was done. Do you have any photos of that? I may some other pics, but you should get the idea.

I remember running my little red wagon down a pretty steep hill as a kid driving with the tongue that was looped up so I could hold it. BuggyMan's wagon could probably drive up that same steep hill.
