Steve Jobs passes away.

OH COME ON NOW.... Are you serious. How about the Billion people that have started businesses form Steve Jobs....well? If you're going to blame him for borders, then you must certainly give him credit for the millions of people who sell things on Ebay. How about the other billion people that sell things on craigs list. Then he certainly gets credit for saving everyone here on TractorByNet millions of dollars by tractor tricks and price checks. OH WAIT I guess jobs then gets credit for saving people billions of dollars in stamps and telephone charges - huh. Do you want me to go on for another hour or do you get my point.

Now for the Communist China thing. I hate to break it to you, but most things in your house come from China, parts in your car come from China, the clothes you have i your closet come from China, the Tractor you own has parts from China, most products you buy come from China in some way or another.

So to single out Apple when most companies on the planet purchase something from China is ludicrous.

Dennis Ritchie died...no fan fare. Google him...he was way more important than Jobs.
Apple Fanboys and Fangirls make me giggle...

Wow. Thanks for that. I had never heard of Ritchie. Is there a Nobel prize for technology? Sounds like he should have gotten it if so.

Yeah, I hear they give those out just about anybody, even folks that they think may deserve them for future performances. I think the idea of the Nobel prize was great, I think all it has become is a political tool.

Rat,
My lovely wife built my computer, she has 2 degrees from college as experience in the computer field.
My hinomoto was built in Japan = no slaves there
The branson was built in NORTH Korea = none there either
Yanmars = nope...

Besides, Steve Jobs CHOSE to have his company's products built in China.
He PROFITED from it, and he made the choice.
There's no getting around that.

I built my computers as well, very easy, does not take any degrees to do it although I have some. I don't know if you realize it, many parts that you put into your self built computer (really assemble) come from the country of "slaves" who are more than happy to make those parts for us. I always try to find things made in the US. I will pay extra. I don't think the Branson was built in North Korea, I would suspect South Korea, your assumption that there are no slaves in North Korea I believe is inaccurate, in North Korea they dream of becoming "slaves", it would at least provide them with food.

Your last statement is interesting. Competition in the world market is FIERCE. You can CHOOSE to build your product here, the rest of the world will buy the bargain if it exists. If no one buys your product, there will be a problem. Solyndra, etc., etc., etc. It cost more to make the product then you can sell it for. We need to figure out a better way to compete yet retain the jobs here in the US.

I become easily tired of our tuning people into icons. We did it with Michael Jackson, now Steve Jobs. We have done it with Bill Gates. Who cares. Each was in a business to market their brand, other than that I'm not sure they have much of interest going on in their lives. People are people, no more, no less.

"People are people no more no less". No question Charles Manson and Mother Theresa are people, that goes without saying, so why say it?

I don't believe anyone is saying Steve Jobs is not a "people" nor are we saying he is a icon that we should all bow our heads too. I'm thinking most of us were praising his accomplishments, no more, no less. Who cares you say" Many of us do. You can choose to care less about great achievers be it Lincoln, Martin Luther King, your parents whoever was inspirational to us. We will continue to comment about people who were important for what ever the reason. Are we suggesting a monument be built or a holiday proclaimed, not me, but if others do, I don't care.

Maybe so,, but he hardly stood in front of the camera.

And maybe that's the only difference, when somebody said "Steve Jobs", I could put a face in my memory.

It took your post for me to recognize Dennis Ritchie. That's a choice Dennis Ritchie took, don't ya think ?
