I am trying to determine whats the advantage of a turbocharged tractor ( which I have never owned ) vs naturally aspirated.

I have an L2500 now

I am selling and trying to move up to something I can possibly put a backhoe on ( btw whats the average cost of a backhoe for a 5100?). IS the 5100 capable of handling a backhoe? without breaking it in half.

Anyone got a 5100 that can give some pros and cons.

I have a 16ft gooseneck now any issues with hauling on that trailer ( 10k total axles ). Do i need a bigger trailer etc....

What should I look for if am looking at a 5100 new and used....

ive got the mx5100 an i wouldnt have any other tractor.ive had mine for a year an havent had an issue with the turbo.but honestly im used to the turbos on the tractors.an yes it will handle a backhoe no probs.that frame is stouter than you think.your gooseneck might be a tad short if it has the backhoe on id go to a 24ft.i seen a used mx5100 2wd the other day for $15,000 it was a 2008 i think an a gear.

Whats the advantage to the turbo? I would assume the hydraulics function almst at max without turbo kicking in? Unless ur bushhogging or moving something is it worth the xtra.

the turbo is a real lifesaver when your working the tractor.because once it kicks in youd be amazed at the power it has.i have the mx5100 hst 4x4 w/la844 quicktatch loader.an we was pulling the hay trailer with 4 5 by 6 bales an 1 on the loader.an had it in 4wd drive an it pulled great.was backing in on uneven ground an the tractor just pushed the trailer back no prob.
