Mowing wild hogs

   / wild hogs #111
We had great luck with electric fencing, both keeping the Yorkshires in and the wild pigs out. What we found was that it took several strands starting close to the ground which meant the ground had to be grass free to keep it from shorting. We also had to run big voltage to keep them in which meant multiple energizers to keep the long runs at high enough charge. If the fence was off for more than a couple of minutes the hogs were out and
/or the wild pigs were in looking for food, or worse yet the darned bears loved the corn and they would wait outside the fence sometimes to see if the power went off. They would then come in for the corn and grab a pig if they got the chance. Farming on the edge of the Dismal swamp with the bobcats, gators, bears, wild dogs, wild pigs, poison snakes, hawks, weasels and Red Wolves, among others, could be a bit of a challenge! Big noisy dogs are your friends. :D

Claymores. Find a ravine and bait it with corn. Daisy chain claymores down one edge of it with det cord. Set up on high point overlooking ambush area with detenator and a 1919 Browning machine gun or anything else you have handy that is belt fed. NVG's would help at night.

We have 113 acres on the NW River near the Dismal Swamp. I see or smell a lot of things I do not want to have to face down.

I carry a 357 every where I go. Protection is very important. I also wear the high snake boots.

At times this year I have smelled a bear and a coyote (saw it on game camera) and saw their droppings. I could almost see where they were, but they did not come out so I left the area. Spooky though!

I only saw hogs once.

Geez, TripleR, I might have missed it, but I didn't see a single hog in that vid.
