Well I stopped at the gun shop on a drive-by, wanted to put some eyes on this 38. I guess I was expecting something a little smaller.

Don't get me wrong, it is a small gun. But it lost everything in the 'discreet' department stuffed into my front jeans pocket. Even with the t-shirt over the top.

Maybe it's just the season, but I just couldn't leave empty handed. Dealer sold me on a P-3AT

I've read the reviews, I'll run a few boxes and make up my own mind.

i love my p3at. I used to carry a sig p230 I retired it and my p3at is my carry gun of choice. previous to that when I needed discreet carry I used a p32.. but round was just a lil anemic.. .380 is decent enough with good ammo, in an emergency.

I use a S&W 638. I prefer it to the LCR because it has an exposed hammer giving it SA/DA capabilities. However the hammer exposure is minimal so it does not catch anything in my pocket. My wife carries a S&W 36 chiefs special with a fully exposed hammer. If the ability to cock the weapon is not of interest the LCR appears to be a great choice. I guess,as someone earlier pointed out, the front sight might catch in a pocket.
Many choices are available. I personally feel that I want no less than a 38 special. Some want cannons and some are happy with peashooters.
MOST IMPORTANT pick one you feel comfortable with and can hit something.

Real men make their own decisions...

I like that LCR and have considered buying one. Guy I used to work with had one...he really liked it.

Snubbies are great when you just want to toss a gun in your pocket (WITH a pocket holster!!) for a quick trip to a convenience store...or walking down to get the mail.
I own two snubby revolvers...both Taurus lightweight .38's and a Ruger LCP .380.

I agree with decisions and my decision is no plastic wannabe pea shooter.

I've never pulled a Ruger trigger that I liked at the outset and I own a number of Rugers. First thing with any Ruger is a trigger job or a stoning. Second thing is blue Locktite and third is a can of brake cleaner.

You must live in the 'hood' if you need to carry a piece to get the mail, or you are ****.... or both.

I carry a detonics 3.5" in .45 ACP in a Versacarry system when I am going into the city, but for a daily carry around the property or local area I carry a two shot derringer in 44 special. When hiking or out for a day in the mountains I carry both the detonics and a North American Arms six shot with snake loads. I keep a North American Arms 22 in both my wife's vehicle and mine. I like the North American Arms because they are point, pull the hammer back and pull the trigger weapons so under stress there is not much thinking required. I am combat trained, but my wife is not so these are perfect weapons for the vehicles.

When in T-shirt and Jeans my two shot derringer will fit into the watch pocket and behind the belt and cannot be seen, but readily available. Here again it fires two 44 specials

I too feel comfortable with a 2 popper but mine is 45LC and/or 3" 410.

.45ACP is a misnomer. It's a .45 Auto. ACP is Automatic Colt Pistol.

Remembe.. good guys don't get to choose where they will be jumped or robbed. bad guys choose that.

I have to walk 1/4 mile to get to the cluster mailbox at the entrance of my 'hood'. there is a treed area that is dark that borders the cluster box. would be a GOOD spot for a robber.. or .. whatever..

So what do you carry when in T-shirt and jeans ?

Nothing. I always dress for the ocassion.

Are you shiiting me, have another beer and tell us all about yourself. Why don't you let some air out of your head and come back to reality.

I'd never do that to a turd, at least not without toilet paper.... Reality to me is a semi large caliber to large caliber handgun that I can multi-use. I handgun for deer. I find 380's to be feminine at best. Myself, I'm fond of the 500 Smith revolver. being a capitalist, bigger is always better.

Just tell the missus it's a cod piece in your drawers......:D

No to both...
I live in a rural area and I'm not **** (that was a rather insulting comment, BTW).
But I do pocket a piece when I get dressed in the morning. Just like a Boy Scout...Be Prepared!

I'll agree that the LCP doesn't have the finest trigger in the world, but it always goes bang when I pull it.

As far as other Rugers...I like the trigger on my SP101, both SA and DA. I also like the triggers on the Black Hawk and New Vaquero. The New Vaquero is a bit smoother, IMHO.

Wasn't meant as an insult at all. Maybe a bit crass because I am but not an insult.

I've never felt the need to pocket any piece first thing in the morning. I prefer a hot coffee and my morning sabatical.

For me, carrying a weapon is based entirely on the ocassion and where I'm going and it's not to the mailbox either.

Actually the terms are interchangeable.
