Not quite a front pocket gun but it will fit ..

With the handy magazine extension it fits the hand nicely for a small gun.

It has an external safety that I like.

Yep, that's it. I bought three of 'em. Try and find an edge to hang up. I carry mine everywhere but work (strangely, the air force base doesn't trust me to carry - just teach 'em to fly). No one has noticed. I carry to church...shopping...whatever.

BF, how do you draw it when you are sitting down? I can't even get my cell phone outa my pocket while sitting........just saying

Understood. I see where you're coming from. But, it's still my choice for carry. And, it's not just my idea. My CCP instructor, a former narcotics officer and now a police chief, suggests it.

I really can't think of too many situations where I would be in mortal danger while seated. Probably, eating out would be the most common. If given an unobserved moment, I believe that I could slip it out unnoticed. In a robbery scenario, the bad guy wolud EXPECT me to be reaching into my pockets. A public place, say a ball game, will have several uniformed officers present. A shooter will most likely be preoccupied with them first.

If seated in my vehicle, it would not be a problem, as I keep a .45 next to me. :D

If seated in my home, I would just reach for the 870. (12 ga, riot gun, 5 rounds of buckshot)

BTW, I consider myself to be proficient with a handgun, but my house gun is a 12 gauge. ;)

The BIG thing about concealed carry is that you are comfortable with where YOUR gun is, it stays concealed unless you need it, you can reliably draw it, and can hit what you're aiming at - - with YOUR carry gun.

A fella here in Texas was taking his jacket off in a restaurant and his "man gun derringer" fell out hit the floor went off and hit a nearby lady in the back paralyzing her.
So much for your piece of crap "man gun". You need to seriously look at some of the new handguns out there when you talk about concealed carry. A two shot derringer ain't even on the list.

Dale

Would be pretty hard to drop a Bond 2 shot and have it go off in as much as it's single action with a cross bolt safety but then again, idiots can do about anything.....

I'm all for stricter gun control. Removes the idiots from the equation.

So what do you carry? An Uzi???:laughing:

I love to carry my North AMERICAN Arms 22 mag revolver I my pocket. I have other guns but they need a holster. Never have a problem getting it out. Handy, accurate (for a small barrel revolver) and well concealed.

Regards,

Bart

I see it's hand gun of the year.

Ruger LC9 Named 2011 Handgun of the Year

Never been a huge fan of Ruger autos, but maybe I'll take a closer look.

JB

I like Ruger revolvers (got 3 of 'em) but, like you, not a real big fan of their semi-autos.
I waited about a year to buy the LCP so the bugs (which there were) could be worked out. So far, it's been a reliable little gun with the ammo I use (Hornady Critical Defense).
I'll look at the LC9 sometime in 2012...

I own a Ruger LCP and use the Hornady Critical Defense rounds with it. Recently I bought a Kahr CM9. This is a really nice pistol and was brought out this year as a lower-price point to the widely acclaimed PM9. (it costs $220 less and is just as good for sd - to the untrained eye, its identical to the PM9)

These pistols rely on their long trigger pull and striker fired mechanism for a safety.....and they are quite good in that regard. But, what I have found is that a good kydex holster (either IWB or pocket holster models by Alabama Holster) provide the extra safety measure for me. These holsters completely cover the trigger so that the gun remains safe until its drawn.....and then it is ready to go without wondering about safeties. The retention and safety features of this holster style is great.

Kahr has set the standard in reliable small 9mm pistols for many years. The trigger on the Kahr is second to none.....which is an important part of shooting these small guns. It's a proven design and should be considered as a viable alternative when looking at the new Ruger LC9. (similar prices for both)

The Kahr CM9 also has received awards this year as the "gun of the year" by another "picker". Also.....It's a little smaller and lighter weight than the Ruger.

Some guys feel the CM9 and the Ruger LC9 are a bit big for pocket carry....and may be better with IWB carry. To me they can be a bit large depending on clothing....therefore the Ruger LCP size pistol can be the right size for some occasions. Or, simply the right size for some folks on all occasions. I prefer IWB carry when possible.

The 9mm rounds just pack more punch than the 380.

Well I stopped at the gun shop on a drive-by, wanted to put some eyes on this 38. I guess I was expecting something a little smaller.

Don't get me wrong, it is a small gun. But it lost everything in the 'discreet' department stuffed into my front jeans pocket. Even with the t-shirt over the top.

Maybe it's just the season, but I just couldn't leave empty handed. Dealer sold me on a P-3AT

I've read the reviews, I'll run a few boxes and make up my own mind.
