John Deere 110 vs Kubota M59

Since this has become the defacto 110 thread, i'll throw this out there. My dealer at plasterer equipment called me the other day. He has 6 units that will become available shortly. All low hour (300ish) utility leased, deere serviced units with all the bells and whistles. The only thing they dont have is the 3 rear remotes. They do have all the rest of the aux features, lights, horn, quick detach bucket. You also can finance right through deere if need be. I paid 32k for mine in march. If any one is looking, pm me and ill give you my salesmans number.

I would keep a look out for a good used boxblade similar to the one shown. The newer model is likely quick hitch compatible, nice but not worth buying new for the money you mention. There was a post by someone on here awhile back who found a used boxblade similar to mine for around $1000 as I remember. If you can find one that needs wire brushing and painting but doesn't have any welding repairs, cracks or bends that is what I recommend. These were and are very commonly used for the 210 landscape loaders and can be found with a little searching.

I should add that you won't need the boxblade right out of the gate so I would take my time finding one at a good price. Just make sure you get the full hydraulic functions on the 110.

I guess I shouldn't say I know they are $5k but the ones I saw online were a couple years and around $4k - so that was only a guesstamite. And I really won't be getting one till spring. Just looking at prices and options so if I find a good deal. So you would recommend getting the hydraulic one?

Yes. For as much money as I'm looking at for one of those now I'd rather have a nice used gator to tote dirt around. I have some thinking to do now.

Besides cleaning up your 25 acres of woods; what projects/kinds of work do you see for the 110?

You can buy lot's of different kinds of "ballast" for $5K - besides - a boxblade, if you have other kinds of work in mind.

Here is a link to the Frontier hydraulic boxblades. The new number that is similar to the 1284 I posted pics of is now a 4284H, it is also IMatch compatible while my 1284 is not. The new 4284H is 50 lbs lighter than the 1284.
Checked online and the price for the new 4284 is $3597.00 and while that might seem high it is about a thousand less than at the peak in 2008 of $4600. I have seen very few implements go down in price but this one has.

I have a lot of attachments - besides a box blade. One of the reasons I want to get a 110 is because they will run more of the implements I have. I have a JD 5410 that spends its life at my farm. My grandfather actually lives there but the equipment is mine. Since theres only about a mile between my house and the farm I would just take the 5410 over to my house to do what I needed done. When I got my first 12.5 acres up there about 10 was vacant and the other already had a place on it and cleared area so I just needed something little to do a little work do I could keep the 5410 at the farm so I got the 3120. It did everything needed on it but I bought the lot one down from me and I'd like to buy the lot in between but the long term plan is to have the place on the new lot. Which has a lot of mature trees and is on the main part of a lake. I want the 110 for the extra power and the bh for the trees but also so it will run more of the attachments I have for the 5410. I have a tiller, post hole digger, finish mower, brush hog, plow, on top of all the hay equipment and that way I can take those implements to my cabin and run then with the 110 that the 3120 wouldn't be able to handle. So I don't have a whole lot more attachments I need.

But to answer your question, I'll be plowing snow, tilling, and a lot of landscape work - I don't have a lot of landscape attachments because I've never really had to before and when I did I'd just use my loader or back blade because it was light work - maybe you could suggest some more that I might need.

That does sound a little more reasonable. I'd still look used. I guess I was just looking at the yellow ones as I thought they would be more built for the 110 but I guess that really doesn't matter. What would be the difference between that and the BB33 series?

I took a look at the BB42 series and the lowest I've seen one for is $1,900. Which is better - but it was in Oregon and shipping would double the nearly double the price. I was thinking what would you recommend as the best size for behind the 110? Would you say 7 foot is a good size? Also iMatch. What's your recommendation on that? I don't know if the back blade I have now is iMatch compatible but it's a BB2084? How much is iMatch and is it worth it? Does the 110 even fit it?

I'm really trying to gather the cash and convince the boss on this but its been harder than I'd expected:laughing:



EDIT: I should add and ask if the TnT system would not allow me to have the iMatch. How about with taking the BH on and off and having to put the 3PH arms on would it not matter as much as I'd then put the iMatch on?

Posted the link and price so you could get an idea of the size and build of a new unit to compare with used. These are available in green or yellow, for what it is worth. If you know what a brand new one is selling for it should help with dickering on an older unit.

The differences between the BB33 series medium duty vs heavy duty build, hinged rear gate. I would still say to keep looking for a good used one maybe one that needs cleaning and painting but isn't tweaked. I should point out that the heavy duty models use 5" square tubing frames, the lighter model uses the 4" frame.
