What 50's era car would you want to have?

I had so many great 50s cars that I would love to have back now that it is hard to choose just one.

But one of my very favorites was my 1959 Ford Skyliner retractable hardtop as seen here on Youtube. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNNoVbgPX0M[/ame]

You are the first person here to say you want a multi-million buck exotic limited production sportscar. If I had something like that I would be afraid to drive it because of the reckless incompetents on the road today.

As a bit of an addendum, since I wrote there were only 15 or so built...

The D Type race car had ran it's course (as a racer), but the XKSS had just started as sportscar. There was a major fire at the Jaguars works which destroyed most of the XKSS production (which is why there were so few built). Who knows...if that fire hadn't happened, XKSS cars may not have been so limited in production.

I would love to have a nice Nomad wagon, then a 57 2 door hard-top, or last a 58 impala ....Pull the 348 and go 454 or 502?I like the 62 impala too with 409 anchor engine?I have weakness for that deep LOPE from a cammed engine? We called em 'drive-in cars", later was SS396 varitys..OOOPPPSSS back to 1950's again?

Would love to have a 55/56 Chevy Nomad wagon. Built a model as a kid and have been longing for one since.:licking: #$^&* practical side!:mur:

If you are a Chevy Nomad fan, perhaps you are aware of this concept car that never was produced. A Corvette Nomad Station Wagon would have been pretty cool.

I think the two ugly-ducklin' Chevy cars of the 50s were the '58 and '59 Chevrolets. The '58 was ugly, but the '59 was horrendous. It's funny, but the slight difference of the '60 Chevy from the '59 made a world of improvement in my opinion. I always liked the '53 thru '56 Fords also.

I guess If I had a choice, it would be the 1955 Packard 400.

And your point is.....?????

I wasn't an active member of TBN at the time that thread was being discussed here, so what is the purpose of bringing it up five years later?????

I'm sure LB just linked it as a reminder of what some of us may have put in that old thread...
But your question (and topic) is different...is it not?

I currently have a 55 Olds Super 88 and a 29 Durant street rod in the garage. If the economy wasn't so bad I'd sell both of them and put the money towards a 55, 56, or 57 Nomad.

Yes the 58 impalla was ugly, but dechromed and cleaned up , it was one of a kind? We had a 60 impala when i was a kid. It was a Lemon, if there ever was one, traded on 64 impala, a good car. I never saw the Nomadian corvette shown in the photo? I bet it would have been so expensive. Plus the added weight on the 235 blue flame 6 cyl?
