In the late '40s, early '50s, my Dad worked for a multi-millionaire who owned a chain of auto parts stores. That guy always drove a new Cadillac, but his wife always drove a new Hudson.

Hudsons were pretty popular in racing too.
I also recall "Studelacs"....early to mid 50's Studebakers with Cadillac engines used in racing.

Reading the thread about the 50's era cars made me really, really want one, my choice would be the 1957 Chrysler 300-C convertible.

How about you?

I once drove a bright red 300-C convertible with two 4-bbl carbs. Would loved to have owned it, but no way I could afford it.

I think the best looking car I ever owned was my 1957 Studebaker Silver Hawk (wished I could have afforded a Golden Hawk).

The car I enjoyed and liked the best at the time was my 1956 Mercury Montclair convertible.

And the only one I might like now was my 1955 Cadillac Couple DeVille (my first car with air-conditioning, power steering, and power windows:laughing: and of course it was 5 years old when I got it).

I've had a few 50's era autos. A '59 Ford p/u, a '58 Chevy p/u and a '58 Chevy Biscayne. But my first auto (at 14 years old) would have been a super clean low mileage straight-8 powered 1952 Buick RoadMaster for $400. Since then I've always liked those late 40's/ early 50's round bodied cars. The Mississippi Gulf Coast has an event called "Crusin' the Coast" every year and the 2 best looking cars that I ever saw was a custom lead sled Mercury and a custom '52 Buick.
But to answer the question... I would want a '52 Buick with a 5.9 Cummins, performance 48RE trans, etc. and all the modern goodies on the interior but with a stock appearance outside.

I'd like a '55 or so Power Wagon, with a 5.9 Cummins, disc brakes ect transplanted... All modern but stock appearing.
