Can't speak to the details of that...But I'd rather have the gator on a trailer anyway...Nice Denali!!!

Thanks! With the Gator in the truck I can keep the speed up, get better gas mileage, less Mackinac Bridge tolls, less tires and bearings to worry about and winter is better with weight on the truck than having a trailer behind in snow.

I don't. Way too many imports in this country already to compete with. I don't understand why Americans want to see American companies fail. This just puts American workers out of job. The government spends enough tax dollars on other countries as it is. I will not feed the pockets of the Japanese when I can keep Americans working. The three American automakers have to compete with Toyota, Nissan, Volkswagon, Kia, BMW, Benz, Audi, Suzuki, Honda, etc...... If the American automakers could export our products on the same level as America takes imports, I wouldn't have a problem with it. It's almost hard to believe that GM had over 60% of the market in car and truck sales in the mid 50's. Any American that was willing and able to work had a job back then.

Americans don't want to see American companies fail, we want quality products and Gummint Motors and its sibling Congressional Motors (Chrysler) can't do that; let alone build an innovative product.

I'll take a non-union made car over a union made one any day.

Top, I read more Buicks are exported , than being bought here? GM could build a very good product, but it looks like they only want it to last 2 years? Just saying from my own use...They have the designers, why not use them? IE Camero designed in ENGLAND?

Camaro design in England? That explains why GM botched the design compared to the retro Mustang & Challenger.

I didnt want to see an american company fail, I wanted to see the american company succeed on its own without government interference and with the employees helping the company rather than hindering it

Exactly.

Someone said that GM vehicles only last 2 years..BS...I get an easy 5 years and 200K out of every GM vehicle I buy...I will continue to buy GM unless I'm let down. That has yet to happen.

I sold my 1995 Accord to a friend, and it has the original engine, clutch, trans, suspension components at 153k miles. I would have no qualms driving that car anywhere. I can only guess the new owner trashed it out.

After reading this thread and seeing the same old darts being thrown around at America workers and American car companies I just want to say this.

When you speak of GM for example, you are really talking about a handful of executives, a board of directors, and Wall Street.

The designers, engineers, suppliers and assembly workers are just Americans, your neighbors. Give it a rest.

When you buy foreign, regardless if it is assembled on American soil, you are shipping America's wealth off-shore in the form of profits.

Buy American, support America, go watch the History channel's "Story of Us", several times.

You forgot to mention the unions and their bosses in this

Unions deserve a whole chapter in the book of why automakers failed. Over the years, union bosses found ways to make careers and a lot of money representing the worker. The union officials, over the years, sent messages to their member of entitlement. A common message was "what is good for the UAW member is good for all American workers".

Unions boil down to a hand full of executive members too.

Regardless, union workers are still our neighbors and Americans who earn and spend supporting our economy across the states.

Sometimes it's difficult to keep the wheat and the chaff separated. You just helped do that. Thanks!

Let me know when Honda can make a real truck. Otherwise, I'll stick to "non-innovative" 03 Silverado that hasn't given me any problems in 125,000 miles.

Not to start another controversy but the same with this is true for non-american tractor companies - we're talking Kubota, Kioti, Even New Holland/Case with CNH, Mahindra, and the list goes on, about the only American designed tractor left is JD. Again I have no problem with any of those brands but is a huge plus for JD in my book and another one of the reasons I own a JD tractor in my yard and have GM cars in my drive.
