Mahindra 4530
I'm going thru my collection of guns to decide which ones to sell so I can afford a farmi or equivalent winch... Any thoughts? In new to owning a tractor but I've read alot about skidding logs with the big 3pt winches and I'm definately going to get one it all goes as planned... I have the mahindra 4530, so prob a smaller winch model would work... Please give me some feed back, pictures and stories about your experiences! If you are in the market for a trade, let me know!!!😳

In reguards to the winch issue, years ago i bought a Farmi winch. At the time we were into the firewood business quite heavy (cutting about 500 or so cord a year) and i figured a winch would help. We had to Belarus 400 tractors and put the Farmi on my 400. I found almost nothing we couldn't pull, it worked GREAT! I've broke the cable a couple of times but nothing on the winch. Last Spring i had it on my Mahindra and it broke the right final out of the tractor, but not the winch. We changed tractors that day and kept on skidding. If you choose Farmi, don't be to concerned about breaking the winch just becareful of the tractor. I use it on my Kioti now. This winch has dragged 1000's of cord of wood with absolutely NO breakage. Personally I'de buy another if i had to!. . . John. Heres a couple of pictures last winter of the winch on the Mahindra. The second picture is an oak log i cut 40 feet long and about 20" in diameter. The last is this years loggs pulled with the Farmi and Kioti DK35SE HST

What would you consider the minimum weight capacity and cable length for pulling 20" diameter 40' trees out of the woods? I am considering getting a 12VDC vehicle winch to assist falling of trees and pulling from areas I can't get to with my tractor. Planning on a hitch mount for either tractor or truck. Found a 4500lb Superwinch with 50' of cable but I am thinking that would be marginal at best. Winch would be used occasionally for clearing, nowhere near your commercial use. Thanks.
