I see what you mean now, the manufacturers do take into account the actual rolling circumference of the tires when they set up the gearing for each axle. Which for a smaller high deflection front tire could be a 5% gearing difference compared to the back axle. But I think goal is still keep each axle spinning with little or no binding.

The original poster should check his lead/lag ratio, he may well have too much lead, causing excessive tire wear. The Article makes another good point 4 wheel assist in not designed to be used contionusly.
