I talked to my dealer today and got some more info. He said that, if it were him, he'd be more comfortable going with the 14.9R24 / 18.4R34 combo that Caledon has. He said that the Multibibs could be just great, but he didn't have any experience with his customers using them, whereas the 14.9R24 / 18.4R34 combo is a stock size for the 6 series. The dealer said that it would cost me about $4000 difference to make the swap, but I am confident that I could get it done for substantially less, either by buying my own wheels and tires, or having the dealer come around. I still have some leverage because of the additional implements I am about to buy.
Caledon Hills, if you are reading this, any more thoughts on your tires? After using them on your 5085M, if you were pclausen or me, would you consider the Multibibs to lower your overall machine height 4"? Also, could you tell us exactly what Firstone tires you have? I believe Firestone makes several different styles with your tread pattern.
I called a tire shop out in the midwest today and got some pricing
width Diam. Circ. Flat Plat.
Agribib 14.9R24 16.1 49.6 147 212.4 $1196
Multibib 440/65R24 17.3 46.7 138.5 196.7 $1177
MultiBib 540/65R34 20.9 62 183.3 316.8 $2102
Agribib 18.4R34 18.8 65.4 194.2 315.1 $1502
These prices do not include shipping. I am sorry that this info isn't easier to read. I don't have the time right now to make a separate spreadsheet. I think you will be able to decipher the info. After the tire size, width, diameter, circumference, flat plate and price.
One last thing, my intention has been to fill my rears with Rimguard, but as I have read more about these radials, it seems that filling them with fluid is not recommended, instead they recommend wheel and 3pt. weight. The radials lose some of the flexibility that you are paying for, and you will not have as large a footprint, or as comfortable a ride.
