Hey guys.New member here.I have a Cab tractor with very little fender clearance for tire chains but I need them for getting up my driveway while snowblowing.I would like to avoid going the wheel spacer route since I really don't want to spend the expense of the chains AND spacers. Not sure if the wheels can be swapped from side to side to gain any clearance.
Any suggestions?
How about studs?
Kubota B3030 HSDC Cab.

Thanks for any help.

A few questions:

What is the tire type?

R1
R4
Turf

Are the tires loaded with liquid ballast?

Do you have a rear weight box?

Home Page

gripstuds is but one option but the issue is what type of tread do you have and are tires loaded with ballast?

I take it you have asphault paving?

Can you put up with leaving the studs in the tires the year round?

The other thing is losing some of the studs at times.

If you have turfs you can use 2 link ladder chains from pewag - Home

The chains for your tractor can be found on page 22 of the Pewag catalog.

You will need to purchase chain tighteners from Pewag to assure the chains cannot slip.

Same tractor, went with the spacers for the chains. Hurts once,
and then you're done. Besides, it helps with increasing the
stability of the tractor. Not much, but every little bit helps.:D

R4 tires.Yes,loaded.
No rear weight box.
Rear mounted snowblower.
Gravel driveway,moderate incline.
I like the idea of studs but unsure if they will be of any benefit on hard pa cked snow.
I tried chains but was unable to use them because they kept rubbing on the inside of the fender.

Thanks for the insight.

Well,

In your case I would do this for sure if you do not want to invest in the spacers.

1. load the fronts with WWF
2. purchase a full front wieght kit.

3. purchase 2 link ladder chains for the "front tires" and chain tighteners
(page 22 of the PEWAG Inc. catalog
You will have better control of the front end this way too.

Once you have all the liquid and suitcase ballast wieght in the front and rear and the chains up front you should be fine.

Front and rear tires are already loaded. No suitcase ballast on front.
Kinda worried about chains on front tires coming in contact with tie rod ends.

Hello Andy,

I would not want to turn that tight with any tractor when i can back up and simply reposition it.

Having the front chains tightened/adjusted to the first links would reduce any chains of damage.

Have you looked into having turfs mounted on these rear rims to gain space and /reduce the rolling radius of the tires for the rear?

As you are normally dealing with linear path in snow casting I do not think you will have much to worry about with the front tires and the tie rods
AS you have rear mounted snow caster anyway.

A number of the folks have flipped their tires on some of the kubotas to gain width for stability issues and eliminate chain rubbing issues.

You could mount studs easily but for the money invested a pair of 2 link ladder chains and a small pair of the same type for the front would cost you less money.

About your tires, give tirechainsrus a call as they can make up sets quickly.

A 4 link road grader ladder chain set should not be that expensive- the road grader chains could be reset for your needs and cost you less money to buy than standard tractor chains that would have to be modified for your rears anyway.
