5740 dif lock lever

I am convinced. I am going to order one.
Seems like the MMC 94135K32, 13.5lbs/in, .080 wire, .640 dia, 4.00 long has been tried and is sufficient. Do you think it will hold up long term, or will the lever start to "sag", and then be half in half out.

My inclination is to order the MMC 94135K33, 17lbs/in, .092 wire, .730 dia, 4.00 long one, as it will most certainly be better than what is there and will be a little stiffer than the lightest one. Do you guys think the lightest one is good?

Thoughts?

Only time will tell. The spring is stainless steel, so environmental conditions should not effect it. The lightest spring has a good feel, and still takes a little resistance to push down. But once the pedal is down, it takes little force to keep it there. When you remove your heel, is comes back up sharply. The springs are cheap, postage will be the same if you order one part number or both, so get both and try yourself! Philip.

Yep and Thanks... I am really cheap too... As Alaskakubota says, the lightest one comes in a three pack... so 12 bucks for the pack plus shipping. The heavier ones are one per pack at 5.66 each plus shipping. If it is worth getting both, i should do it all at once. Not like a big decision... but then again, a dollar spent is a dollar that I don't have anymore, and it then turns into junk in a drawer. If this is the biggest decision I make all day, it won't be too bad of a day.

I got the springs and put on 94135K32, 13.5lbs/in, .080 wire, .640 dia, 4.00 long.
What a difference.
If you have any doubts, just do it. It is worth the trouble.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I know I am reviving an ancient thread but made this mod on my L3560 and it makes a world of difference. Had not seen it until it was linked to in another thread. Maybe someone else will notice it if its gets bumped to the top.

Definitely going to try this. I'm guessing the lighter spring has held up fine???

thanks ahead of time for any updates to this thread.

I am the one who did the original modification in December 2011. Everything has held up fine and have not touched a thing since the modification, works very well. Philip.

How about just keep eating cheeseburgers until you are heavy enough to hold the thing down? Worked for me!

Talk about timely. I was cursing the lock last night, because my rubber boots wouldn't keep the rears locked while simultaneously trying to push the tractor backward with the bucket. I don't want to think about what it did to the gears in the rear end. I had been considering a bracket extension of rod and angle iron to fit over and clamp to the existing lever when "The Fred's" post boosted this to the top.
I just ordered a set of 3, and they supposedly will be delivered on Monday.

I guess better late than never just did this on the L5240. Lot of difference in the springs. I always hated that strong spring. Good quarantine project. Thanks PHILIP8N for posting it.
