Oil & Fuel 50hr service & gripe about shop manual...

I believe I have the DK 35, 40, 45 SE manual.

It does not ist the DK 50, and I do not think it covers the FEL (but I need to go look at it again).

I am certain it does not cover the backhoe though. But it does cover the cab systems (I have open station).

Thanks,
David

Yes David. Mine is the same with DK35/40/45 SE but not DK50, and it does not cover the FEL, backhoe, or have a maintenance section. The separate FEL manual I received includes a parts list.

IndyIan--the DK SE manual is much larger and with more photos than the older DK manual. Previous threads gave links to an Australian site with manuals for the DK (not SE) and the EX series which seems very similar to the DK SE.

David,
If the service manual does not specifically list the DK 50 specifications for the engine, transmission, front axle, etc. its useless for you IMO. Send it back.
I have an older service manual for my DK 35, don't know if the newer manuals have improved or not . My manuals not bad, but its not that good either. Doesn't go into enough detail.
My Kawasaki motorcycle service manuals on the other hand are excellant, it goes into every detail. Puts my Kioti service manual to shame. Kioti should ckeck out the Kawasaki service manuals to see how it should be done.

No, the DKse manual is very relevant for the DKse50 which is the IDENTICAL tractor to the DK40se in every respect other than a bigger bore and longer stroke. Everything in the manual is relevant. The three tractors DKse40/45/50 are identical triplets other than engine block bore and stroke.

The manual is designed as a reference for repairs and diagnostics. The OP complains that it doesn't contain detailed routine maintenance schedules but those schedules are detailed in the owners manual do why repeat them?

Please cite a better written or illustrated maintenance manual as I've never seen anything better. True noobies should talk with their dealers if they require first time help. It is not appropriate to clog up a reference manual with general advice on how to change a routine filter or exactly how to check torque on loader mounts etc. Get the dealer to give you their checklist for what they do on a 50 hour service and go over it with him to make sure you understand.

One other thought: are you sure you have the DKse manual and not the older DK series manual???

My 2011 DS4510HS downloaded Service Manual is absolutely top shelf with explicit colour photos, inserted "balloon" photos of close ups as well as all the service, technical and maintenance data.

The Owners manual is also very good and the servicing requirements are presented quite well, once again , with plenty of clear photos.

Best of all, both are available free.

Now I am not that familiar with the current manual standards for other late model vehicles but I was impressed.

Personally, I think I would prefer an "electronic" version of the manual, especially if it has my tractor in it, over this paperweight.

Where is the download site?

Thanks in advance,
David

So return the paper manual and do a search of this site for the link to the Australian manuals.
As Island tractor stated the manuals do the job for which they are intended and it makes sense that they would not do a duplicate section just for the 50 series since everything is covered in the 40 series details.
You'd better have some UTF on hand when you change the filters for the hydraulics/HST, as well as the proper grade oil for when you wrench off the OEM filter and do the oil change.

Sorry for the hijack guys but dont you loose a lot of hydro fluid when you take the filter off? Or is it higher than the fluid level when the machine is off?

Hmm, i actually think the service and parts manual i received is nicely done.. Alot of great pics and ive used it to help other people repair their issues with the tractor.

I had a repair manual for my jd870 that wasnt as thorough as this one is for the Kioti. But i have alot of basic knowledge about tractor repair after years of messing with many different models.

I only lost what was in the filter and lines on my CK20.
