Beautiful day to finish up the first 1300 pavers in section one. I got all the leaves out and did one last leveling/spacing and then spread the polymer sand and then tamped everything one more time. The instruction call for a light mist 4 times, ten minutes apart which I did.

On to section two, 8,700 pavers to go!

I have never seen it done like that using spacers, Can't see how that would be a recommended method of installing, being so slow. Most pavers have the little bump on them for that. You are one very determined person, I would not have the patience for that.

I know you did some research, and I'm no expert on the matter, But I would think that you would want direct contact between the units, especially for vehicle traffic dynamics. Poly sand is only good for a period of time then breaks down to just very fine sand, at least it does here in the northern region. That would leave the potential for the pavers to move around.

I do like your choice of the color, but I would of went with a larger unit size to speed things up.

JB, I'm wondering how it will hold out over time with traffic. I am taking extra time for packing the ground and gravel underneath. The spacers would not be needed if it was a smaller area. All the points you mention sound like you are experienced and I would do it differently next time, especially the spacing part that takes too much time.

The next section is has more of a curve to it and the slight turning of each paver will be easier with the space to play with. I hope.

I don't really have that much experience doing it myself, Besides a few small projects for my self around my house. I do see alot on jobs and do repair some for customers. A hospital calls me every spring to replace damaged individual bricks, in an expansive brick walkway. But that is pretty easy just pry up the bad ones and replace with new. I really appreciate how much work goes into laying large areas of pavers.

I think the best advice you got was to start at the outer edge like you did, I wasn't sure where I would of started but that makes sense.

At first i thought you might try to run the bricks perpendicular to the edge instead of parallel. I thought to my self that would be a nightmare with radius and the curve.

As a percentage, how much more do you have to do?

On a side note, my neighbor lays pavers for a living. He does large scale jobs, usually measured in >100K sq ft (commerical locations, under overpasses, etc). He has several pieces of equipment specifically desgned for laying payers (who knew). The equipment can pick up an entire layer of bricks from the pallet and set them in place at one time (think of a bobcat with a long tender arm and a grapple). Because of the size of the jobs he does, the paver companies stack the bricks on the pallet in the pattern called out for the job. He says with 2 of his machines and a crew 4 or 6 guys, he can lay 40-50K sq ft a day--not counting prep work.
