I was only 9 at the time but he got me riding dirt bikes at 4,when other kids had training wheels im running around tearing it up.I rode dirt bikes til 22,first son was born couldnt afford to get hurt. I have always wonted a "DEUCE",and will always love motorcycles as he did....

The ape's are comfortable for me. I also have extended controls on it. I'm 6'2" and this bike fits perfect. It's a great highway bike and I have no control issues with it. It is not a road racer, straight line performance is its forte. I used to get cramps in my neck and shoulders with the shorter bars on it when on a long trip. Not anymore.
I can't even picture a Honda 450 with apes. Got any pics?

I sold the bike back in '79, may have a print pic someplace but I doubt it. If the bars are comfortable for you my apologies for my possibly rude query. Back when I had my 450, my dream bike was a Sportster, but I couldn't afford one then. And here it is 30 years later, I can afford one, but don't want one anymore. Story of my life, I guess....
Just wondering, when you added the high bars, were there ready made extended cables and wiring harnesses available at a reasonable cost? I was the third owner of the my bike, and the second owner added the bars and jury rigged the wiring and cables. It looked so sloppy and unsafe that was a reason I switched back to the OEM bars.

Thanks, it lived inside a garage all its life, hand washed/waxed, never met a power washer.
Sad for me, but great for my son as he can't afford one; glad someone will continue to enjoy it.:thumbsup:
