UPDATE: Here is pictures of the finished refurbed and converted Vertical Tillage Tool for smaller farmers. Ken Sweet

Do you think with the blades you now have on it that if the angle was changed to be sharp again it would be like a disc? You know where it may serve as both a vertical till and a tandem disc?

I am thinking that 5-10 degrees is about all the angle side load I would want to put on the 20 inch flat/wavy blades. Ken Sweet

I would think they wouldn't take much angle ... I said earlier I was thinking about converting my disc to this ... I may shop for another and redo that one.

Its definatly an interesting concept.

Mostly just curious here but, do you think it would even be possible to make a smaller (say 5ft wide) VT and still maintain the proper disk to weight ratio, such that a CUT would be able to pull it and achieve the desired effect? If so, do you have plans to eventually build one along that size??

We are working on that now. Ken Sweet

I would think no matter the size ... with the proper disc blades and weight you could create this.

Looks great .

Now you've gone and done it -- you've inspired me to start yet another project--converting my old Minneapolis Moline KS1300 (made by Krause) wheel disc into a VTT :D. Should be relatively easy to do since I cut that 13-ft disc down to about 7.5 ft wide so my 2008 Mahindra 5525 (54 hp engine) can handle it.

Should work fine if you can run the discs straight and be sure to keep the axles a little longer for the thicker 6mm coulter blades. Ken Sweet

Great Plains is now making one with the disks at a slight angle. It does not work like a usual disk, but it is better at killing weeds. My dad has a 25' (i think) straight blade model an it does not do as well as he had hoped for killing weeds especaily mares tail.

Corn tilled only with it did do quite well though.
