island,
that is the way it came, must have been made on a friday, but it works great
now that i have one how did i do without it.
took my wife a ride to the end of our farm, there were some trees fallen across the road so i picked them up & put them aside, she said that grapple s really nice.

Well, I guess they do need to spend a bit more time on quality control but as noted, it will make no difference in function of the grapple and if it bothers you the fix is not hard.

Glad you are enjoying the grapple. Once you've used a grapple it is hard to imagine why anyone with a tractor/FEL would not get one. Especially at the Wildkat/Millonzi/Gator prices.

I did a lot of land clearing (attempted land clearing) before I got the tractor and grapple. Compared with a DR mower, chainsaw etc there was a four or five fold improvement with a plain 20hp tractor/fel and adding the grapple gave a similar 4-5 fold improvement over the plain tractor/fel. Just amazing how much more you can get done without getting cut up or injured!

You're right on that, Island. We cut, cleared and cut up with the chainsaw a number of the dreaded honey locust trees; one of the thorns broke off in my finger and it was infected for six months.

Now, the small ones I pull with the tractor and the Brush Grubber and the large ones I cut, and carry all with the grapple, much safer.

My econo grapple arrived yesterday and while everything looked okay I was surprised that there was NO PACKING, no pallet, not even a board. I realize that we are buying these at rock bottom prices but it does make it difficult to handle by both the freight company, Old Dominion (who did well) and the buyer. The freight company was kind enough to provide a board to sit it on in the bed of my son's pickup. I do not have the hydraulic modification totally figured out yet, so it will be a bit before it is mounted. I am glad I got it at that price. I still am amazed they can sell it for that. I just wanted to put out the word that if you go to pick it up, be prepared!

Mine came strapped to a pallet. These ain't going to be shipped padded. I'd be surprized if the unit was picked up without a pallet and would believe it's more possible that the pallet broke during the shippers transfer between trucks and transfer stations.

I was not expecting padding, just a pallet. I think I will ask Wildkat if they shipped it with a pallet. I was a bit tricky to get out of the truck without damaging the truck. Thanks for your input. Most important is that there was no damage (at least that I could see).

Consider welding in some intermediate bottom tines. If you put them an inch or so below the top of the existing tines you won't need to worry about strength as they will just keep stuff from falling through. 1/4 inch x 2 inch steel plate or even just rebar would do the trick. If you search the Markham/Gator grapple discussions you will probably find a photo of intermediate tines installed by the manufacturer as an option. I think those are full size tines which may not really be necessary if you just want to stop smaller (lighter) rocks from falling through the 8-9" gaps between the main tines.
