That'll give you some serious welding/cutting power. A real 8500w is close to 40amps 220v and should run about everything a non industrial shop would run.

thanks guys.
i picked up 6011 rod sat. night they did not have 6010 but when i started to weld with it { again } the rod kept sticking several times i noticed when i could not release the stinger ? fast enough the flux burned off the rod { went up in smoke } what`s with that & then i had to pitch the rod.

I'm not an authority, but maybe you need to turn up more amps.
Nice generator.

Normal to flake/burn off the flux when they stick hard.. tell us what current setting you are using, and what size of rod you have and what technique you are using to strike the arc..Everyone sticks a rod now and then, begineers stick more than just now and then, but if you are set too cold, then they can stick more, and vertical pecking (though some disagree) seems to stick more for me, I like to "scratch" at an angle. It takes some practice, and some rods stick more than others. Stay with it, and we will stay with you to help.. I don't suppose you live any where near Branson, MO.?

One tip for 6011 with those inverters. I find on my longevity 6011 will only run on the 6010 port. The 6011 is an AC/DC version on 6010, and it seems the difficulty of running on inverters is the same.

You will have to learn to accept that you're going to stick the rods when you learn. Experienced guys still stick rods. Part of the PITA of learning stick welding and part of the reason that MIG is so popular with new weldders. Still, stick is a very valuable skill so it makes sense just to keep going until you get it right. You shouldn't need to waste a whole rod though if you stick it. Just cut off the bad part, clean a bit of flux off the very tip and keep going.
