10% might be a 'record' for 'tandem polymer' or multi-layered solar cells but single layer cells have already hit the 40% efficiency level. So this really isn't _that_ big of news. It is a milestone in the development of multi-layered solar cells which have a theoretical efficiency that is higher than single layer cells.

Right. I hope the polymer ones are real cheap.

Climate change may increase risk of water shortages in hundreds of US counties by 2050

More than one in three counties in the US could face a "high" or "extreme" risk of water shortages due to climate change by the middle of the 21st century, according to a new study. The report concluded seven in 10 of the more than 3,100 counties could face "some" risk of shortages of fresh water.

I peek into this thread occasionally. 23 pages shows again that there are no facts and evidence that a good denier cannot distort, twist or outright lie about.

Well, since full spectrum sunlite at Earth has power ~1100W/m^2 , 40% would give 400W for each sq meter. Thats getting near 2 megawatts per acre. Sign me up! ... I think its only 40% for light wavelength centered on the diode bandgap - only a small part of the spectrum [drat!]. The tandem polymer claims 8%+ of the full sun power per area. Say 85W/m^2. Only about 400KW/acre. Thatll do. :dance1:

Open Channel - Leaked: a plan to teach climate change skepticism in schools

For the skeptics who think the only underhanded BS in the Climate Change arena is sci-****** paid to support it, read the above.

And now for some **** **** and ******** ****** from the Porcine Ambulator...

One of the reasons nobody believes in Man Made Global Warming is that those pushing it have an agenda. When they can no longer make an argument based on facts to support their position, they resort to name calling, intimidation and massive bluffing with fake facts and meaningless links.

Sad and disappointing to see it happen.
