Have you contacted the organization that you wish to join? Find out what the minimum requirements are. I know for my Fire-Rescue department we don't have any minimum attendance requirements, but we do require all new members to complete Firefighter 1 training (162 hours) within 18 months of joining.

I strongly suggest you find out more info. Once you get in, I think you would be able to find the time.

G'day I hear what your saying, most of the young ones that are in our area are leaving to go to the big smoke for work and the smaller farms have been gobbled up for trees in the last 10 odd years, gotta say though those that are left are pretty well community spirited and most if not all would be volunteers
What part of this fine country are you in?
