Thank you all for the compliments, the concerns and the suggestions. My condition really hasn't changed that much. If anything, it's a little worse. In addition to the bleeding problem (twice last month), I have had a rash on my legs for about five weeks now that is about to drive me nuts. The dermatologist has decided to let a vascular surgeon try to figure it all out. I have managed to do some work on the mini but the fun factor is mighty low. The dozer has been sitting outside for the last few months and even though it had a tarp over it, I'm surprized of the amount of rust it has on it. I have installed the jack shaft that I was planning on to slow the unit down. Also, I finished making the 3 point hitch (most of it was already done), installed some foot rests and a grab bar and installed the front blade. The only thing left that I want to do is install some bogey wheels on the upper track (one on each side) to take out the sag in them.

Let us know how that jackshaft works. It will be nice for you to have a slower machine with more torque to the wheels.

I have brother-in-law that was in Nam. He was a chopper mech and pilot. During his tour he was exposed to Agent Orange many times. He said they would fly straight through it because they told them it was just a herbicide and not harmful to humans. Well a few years ago he started developing alot of the same symptoms and complication you have described. The government has finally started admitting the hazards of Agent Orange and giving benefits for some of the ones still alive who have to suffer the effects. Hope you do well and get back on your feet soon. I love your "little" project.

Hi, great work! I think i know of the excavator you were talking about when talking about the tracks but the link is no good. I have a few questions about your tracks. Did you use commom mild steel and what did you use for the pins? What did you use for the sleve over the pin? I've been wanting to build a dozer for a long time but finances stand in my way. Anyway, what did the dozer end up weighing and what was the total build cost for materials only? Any videos? Hope to see a new project from you!

Yes, I used mild steel on all of the track parts. The pins are 1/2" dia. cold rolled steel. The sleeves were cut from some DOM tubing which I purchased on-line from speedy metals.com. If I am happy with the dozer's performance (right now I'm ironing out a few problems) I might disassemble the track and have it sand blasted and then heat treated as another member has suggested I do. Sorry, I haven't got the weight of the unit yet. I've got about $2600.00 in it so far. I hope to have a video soon.

I have finished installing the additional bogey wheels which I had mentioned in my 2nd from last post. This should take the sag out of the track and relieve some of the stress on the individual links. I had posted my project on a welders web sight and one of the members spotted a problem, which, luckily, I was able to easily correct. :) He noticed that I had installed the engine-to-jackshaft idler pulley in the wrong location. Since the engine rotates CCW, the idler pulley should be on the return or slack side which in this case, is the bottom side not the top. If all goes well, I should be able to post a video of it in action soon.

Bob I am so glad to see you back in action. How has your recovery been going? Good I hope.
Also the updates are nice to see again. Video will be very cool and worth a lot of applause for you. Nice job.
But dont take the video with your ugly mug on the dozer find a model to drive, like your daughter again. LOL

Im truly glad to see you back at the dozer. Did you come to any conclutions about the issues you have had health wise?
Chris
