Lower arms telescope in and out, as well as swing side to side.
Upper arm telescopes in and out, and easily side to side.
Mounting balls all move freely.
PTO shafts telescope just fine.

Make sure everything is properly lubed up.

I was under the impression that AC and International/Farmall both had nice quick hitches back then. But they were all manufacturer particular; the IH hitch wouldn't fit the AC, AC would not fit the JD etc. The 3pt has never been the best, but was the first that became "universal". Kind of like Windows. Not the best PC operating system. But it is pretty universal, and is on 95% of PC's.

Now, if you think changing 3pt stuff is hard, you'd have to go back to a farm in the 1950's and see what real work was changing implements. The 3pt way is _easy_ compared to what used to be needed. :)

I try to take implements(including and especially loader) off on a nice flat spot. Much earier to line up.

Keep a deadblow hammer handy.

I keep all my implements down by the shed. I also keep a 4' 2x4 handy down there. And a couple 16" 2x4's, couple 16" 4x4's. Handy for cribbing as necessary. The long 2x4 is handy for prying things to move them etc.

good suggestions already...one additional

get a 3 to 5 lb hammer....makes a big difference sometimes....keep it in your tool box.

Ok heres my question. I bought a 3pt hitch catogory 1 hitch, I haven't put it on the tractor yet because the hooks where the implement pins will insert seem to large. Do I have to get some kind of adaptor sleeves to to make these fit? The instructions state to make sure all connections are tight befor using. I bought it used at an auction so there may have been sleeves with it when it was new but they didn't come with it. Any info would be helpfull because I have never had one of these before.

I have an old mallet that my grandfather had. The head is essentially rolled up rawhide. Pretty hard but not steel hard. Works pretty good on disagreeable stuff and doesn't bugger things up like a steel head would.

Tractor supply has the pin bushings too if that is more convenient for yoo. Although I use some (maybe most) of my attachments with the Pats without bushings and don't have a problem.

Or you could just buy the Speeco. It has the proper size hooks.

I bought the used unit so I could see if I liked them and how well they worked. If they don't work and make my day easier then I don't want to be spending the money on something that I just don't like!

Pat's ECS is the best quick system that I have ever used. The big plus with it instead of block access to the PTO it enhances it.

I agree with the post the most important thing is to think ahead instead of after the fact.

If one is stressed by switching 3PH equipment and who has not been then taking a little time and attach/remove the same piece five times back to back the same day should help.

While Pat's ECS may seem to be the lazy man's way to some it seems like a smart man's way in our case because our equipment/tractor is old.

Even without a Pat's ECS, etc millions and millions of hitches have been made over the last 60-70 years. Cutting some blocks to keep things level and from getting down onto the ground is awesome we have found. Having the equipment higher than the rear of the tractor a bit helps us since we do NOT have any truly level places to park equipment.
