James, I had that problem with my shaft being a bit too short for comfort so I added a 4" adapter from Agrisupply.com for about 20 bucks, and all is well in the world now.

Good idea.

The things that have helped me with this frustration.

1. Making dollies for the heavier attachments. At least in the shop, that makes them much more manageable to maneuver.

2. The hydraulic top link that I installed from Fit-Rite, has made things easier as well.

Things I will be doing next.

1. I will be getting a quick hitch and making mods to make everything fit when I get a little time. The item that has pushed me to that choice is the one row cultivator, it needs to be farther away from the 3pt. On my BX 2360.

2. I would like telescoping side links, though it seems hard to find for a BX. ( I don't really like turnbuckles)

3. As soon as I get it just perfect. I will likely buy a bigger Tractor :)

I'd not pay the ransom money JD charges for their quick hitch - I'd get a generic one.

Be sure all your 3pt implements are compatable with one - many 3pt items are a tad off in width or most often the top link has some frame or bolts in the way of the top hook getting onto them. If you have all good 3pt equipment designed for a quick hitch, that would be the easy way to go.

Now, if you think changing 3pt stuff is hard, you'd have to go back to a farm in the 1950's and see what real work was changing implements. The 3pt way is _easy_ compared to what used to be needed. :)

My 1950's hitching was easy! Every implement had a tongue hitched to a drawbar with a pin through the clevis.

Ah....

Mid mount row cultivators, mid mount sickle mowers, bolt on rear sickle mowers..... Every make was different so everything was attached differently.....

Then we had a 3pt corn planter that we put on an IHC Fasthitch tractor with drive chains from the tractor axles. Corn need cultivating with the mid-mount cultvator before bean planting was done, so off with the planter, on with the cultivator for a day or 3. Ah, the memories.... My skinned knuckles ache. :)

I dont swap my rotary mower off too much, but the few times I have it has been a major issue getting the arms pulled wide enough to get off the pins. I almost had to remove the arms to get them spread enough. Getting the tractor lined up and the arms positioned at the right height and angle was a breeze. I only had issues with the ability to spread em far enough to come off the pin.

I tried a generic version of the PATS system from an ebay vendor for $79 to see if the concept was worth pursuing before I spent any "real" money on it. I have been very happy with the results.

The more expensive versions have some bells and whistle that knowing what I know now could have persuaded me to spend more. I have to drop a retaining bolt in place on the lower connectors that other versions have catches or other devices to perform that function automatically.

It has fully resolved my issue with arm spreading and makes my hook ups infinitely easier. The lineup of the tractor still has to be close, it is really the only variable still needing attention. The GPS auto drive is still too expensive for the few times a year I need to be precisely positioned. :D

As a firm believer in the KISS principle I agree with Tri-guy1; CONSIDER BUYING OR BUILDING CASTER DOLLIES, one for each implement.

It is a little difficult to find dollies wider than 18" but eBay is a good place to search. I found a Vestil Solid Deck Dolly, 36" X 24", 4" casters, 1,200 pound capacity on eBay from Northern Tool.

Vestil Solid-Deck Hardwood Dolly 1200-Lb. Capacity, Model# HDOS-2436-12 | Dollies + Movers | Northern Tool + Equipment

If you decide to build, eBay is also a good place to shop for industrial casters.
You can generally find very robust casters, used, on eBay for 25%- 30% of what they cost new at Home Depot or Tractor Supply.

just one thing i want to say quick, when i change my 3ph implements, i always connect the top link first and unhook it last. (i can't use quick hitch systems with my stuff.) the reason i do this is i have found that if you are having trouble getting one of the lower bars/pins in, adjusting the top link in or out will pull the implement (or push it) closer to where you need it. also if one of the lower bars/pins is off angle a bit, adjusting the top link will straighten it out and makes it much easier to line up. i rarely have to get back on the tractor a second time to hook/unhook any of my 3ph implements due to this technique. just figured i would throw this out there.

How does the I-match work with the T-N-T system?

It works great! I've got both on my 3320 and never have to worry about parking an implement on un-even ground anymore. The top and the tilt will adjust the I-match to any angle the implement is at so I never need to get off the tractor anymore unless a PTO shaft needs hooking up. Highly recommend it!!!
