16-6-12,30acres at 300lbs=$2200 put out.
30-8-10,12acres at 12.5lbsX20gallons water per acre=$300 me putting out.
Will SEE!!!!

Keep us posted on the grasshopper ... GW sold me some last year and i wasn't overly impressed. I still have 6 bags in the barn, think I'll put it out when I sray for weeds.

Your probably dreaming at night about that new equipment ... I'm thinking about selling my small 4x4 baler .... thinking .... thinking .... thinking. I really like the little baler and have yet to use it this year ... those little 4x4's are some nice money makers.

Must be a female thing...... caught my girlfriend this past weekend out on the tractor barefoot :confused2: She had her flip flops sitting right there also. When i asked her what she was doing she simply replied she didn't want tan line from the flip flop

For me, flip flops are for the pool and beach. Otherwise, appropriate footwear for the job at hand. In your instance, I would probably have had my Crocs on. Pretty comfy and easy on/off for just running around in. I won't go in the fields to work with them but if running around on 4 wheeler to lock/unlock front gate or just check on things. Plus they wash off easy

I forgot about "tan lines" my wife hates those ... I don't know about Crocs ... its so easy to slip on the boots ... I know they look pretty weird with shorts.

I also have a problem "tucking" the shorts into the boots !!!!!!!!!!!!

Question: Do the guys buying urea, buy bulk? If so how do you store? How do you weigh (to know amount per acre)?

I buy my fertilize bulk ... Urea, Nitrogen and blends ... I do not store it I order what I need per field. It comes in a buggy I pull with the tractor and it all goes out the same day I buy it.

The co-op has scales and they weigh it as they mix it. The buggy has a gate with different settings for the amount to be applied per acre.

And a whole bunch of pictures !!

I will get several trust me:D I didnt get before pictures on the grasshopper was in a rush to get it mixed and out but you will be able to tell what was sprayed and what wasnt right beside it hopefully. I also got the SE Minerals out on 3 acres right beside the 16-6-12 it has a fence seperating the two,to big of a gamble not to do the dry on the big meadow...We ended up with 6/10 at the house meadow and the one in leona 1/10th but the father-in-law may be pulling my leg cause he didnt buy any fertilizer cause he bet me it wouldnt rain:laughing:

Had good weather and put up 90 acres ... cut with 2 tractors and put up 296
4x5.5' round bales net wrapped ... its all sold right out of the field.

Didn't get many pictures ... too busy getting the hay done.

Also took 500 square bales off of 13 acres and 85 rounds off of another field. That stuff went into the barn.

Just as I feared its getting really dry ... the wind and high temps are pulling the moist right out ... I'm planning to start irrigating this week. If we don't get some rain soon ... liable to be right back to drought conditions.

I've got 40 acres that could be cut but I'm hoping that 60% chance of rain next weekend comes thru and that will help it a little more.

Blueriver,

That's some good looking hay. Looking at the pictures I could almost smell it.

Alright gotta question,I hooked the new cutter up and the pto shaft is to long,I tried everything it just will not go onto my pto shaft on tractor. Is this something thats normal to have to cut it down or do I need to just run out and get me a quick hitch so it will set it back far enough to get it on and I guess it would be a plus having it around. Any suggestion would be helpful thanks guys....

I had to cut one on a brush hog once but that would be my last resort.

80% chances of rain tomorrow. Maybe I should fertilize but having a hard time doing it at the current prices.

Thats a normal thing ... I think if I remember you need to take 4" off. With the cutter hooked up your probably about to the tractor side of the pto of the tractor.

If you have a chop saw ... push the little plastic tabs in on the guard so you can remove it from both ends ... then take 4" off each end and 4" off the plastic guard wit the chop saw... file off the burrs left from the saw and you can slide them back together.

NOW REMEMBER ... I think its 4" ... look close and determine if thats the right measurement...you can see about how much has to come off so the shaft can slide back enough to get it on the tractor pto.
