4 cyl 2000 cover will fit. ie.. 1955-1964 covers will swap, on gear type machines. find out if that 'early' 2000 is a 4 cyl or a 3 cyl.

simple amazes me that people won't list the darn year of the parts they are selling. the machines have plenty of provisions for iding their year/model at most basic.. and year to year based on looks and options on the machine, if not sn and date code...

I guess he doesn't know the year---It is from a 4 banger though. Are there any tricks to the swap I should know about? Lever position, fluid drain etc? I'll probably try to make a new gasket from a box of cereal...

Thanks

if it's from a 4 banger that had a gear trans it will fit.

probably take you 5 minutes to swap it.

gasket paper.. cerial box.. and in this case.. this is the only place I'll 'allow' rtv usage.. permatex #2.. etc. it's a non pressurizes sump. etc.

pul the bolts.. pop the cover off, pup new cover on with gasket or goop..aligning pto lever stick bolts in and go.

no tricks to thins one. 100% straightforward...

Sorry for late reply - been traveling. Yes - I know the area well - Live in Lake Mary/Sanford. I've got a 58 Powermaster that is in pretty good shape but I've got a rear wheel that has rusted and I don't know anyone that sandblasts - hoping you might have a recomendation or two...
Thanks

break it down and dismount. if the rim is stil structural, wire wheel it and then use a rust converter chemical. then clean that up.. prime and paint. i reccomend using an epoxy paint. you can even get that in a spray can. if the rim is gone.. and you don't have a donor to cut up.. I'd just find a new one. or a good used one..

Thanks - it was a calcium leak that got it - I'm hoping it will be OK - it's got the adjustable rim style.

Well, the PTO cover went on without a hitch---easy. But while working there I noticed the lift cover had a crack. Want to get your opinion soundguy---it lifts only at last half of quadrant and leaks down fairly quick under heavy load, so I know I'm going to have to work on it at some point. Do you think the cover is weldable? It looks like there's two cracks---one that was welded on top (and may have recracked under the weld), and one on the side that looks newer. I don't know what kind of work that area gets. Maybe a replacement cover is necessary?

the leaking down under load is usually a lift piston oring. might need to hone the cyl as well. lift cover kit with gaskets and a handfull of orings is about 15$.. has all the orings for under the cy; and option cover.. etc.. only lifiting at the end of travel is usually indicative of a worn cam follower pin and / or worn cam and linkage out of adjustment. there are alternate adjustment instructions in the service manual to adjust the lift without using the special nuday tools.

the cam pin can be pressed out at home using a socket and pin punch/drift.. and a ne wone mad of a broken drill bit stem.. or a real dowel pin.. cam usually wears in profile so you have part of a surface as a witnes to weld back up to then grind and file to correct profile.

the area of that damage is outside the hyd ports.. so it COULD be welded.. but.. it's in a spot that carries all the weight.

if I did weld it I'd do it witht he cover off and the rockshaft out. weld from outside and underside.. and inside the bore.. then hone out. would have to vcut the cracks and clean oil out of them with a torch.. would have to pretty much pull all the hyds components. might be easier to find a good lift cover.. though it is for sure weldable with a lil technique and patience. I've seen a factory weld patch on an 8n lift cover that came out of ford factory.. so i know it can be done...
i know a guy that sells surplus parts.. he has a cover for 80$ plus shipping. might be easier to go that route.

fair guy to deal with. I've bought tons of parts from him over the years. all good results.

best of luck either way.. you got options..
