Do you have a progressive? I load a lot of 9MM on my Dillon and it is pretty easy.. I have never loaded .380, but they are just a little smaller than 9mm. and the same shellplate as .223/5.56mm should be ok I would think.

i don't relaod much pistol but do have dies for 380 acp . could really use some 30carbine dies as I have both an m1 carb and an amt automag III chambered in that one.. i find it a fun relaxing hobby. I just ordered a lyman case prep station to make dealing with military crimped primer pockets much easier.. :)

It is kinda amazing that so many of us have the same hobby's!

yep.. ham and relaoding. :)

I reload for 218bee, 222, 243, 270w, ,3030, 308, 303brit, 3006. Have dieas, as said for 380acp.. just ain't used them..

all that started when i bought a rifle that came with a C&H set of 218bee dies and 100 unloaded brass. it was downhill from there.. :) i have a less classic setup and an rcbs rockchucker.. plus a bunch of lyman stuff. most usefull addition to date has been an upgrade from the manaul rcbs trimer 2 to the power trimmer 2. I get it tomorrow with the lyman case prep center. i hear the new rcbs power trimmer doesn't use shell plates anymore but rather has a universal collet back there that will accomodate up to 45acp or similar basesed cartridges. i kept my manual of course in case i want to relaod 50 ae or 500wm.. or some of the safarie cartridges I have.. I can get shell paltes for those for the rcbs man trimmer.. and the throat is long enough for up to 416rigby / 458 lott.. though not any of the 50 barrett or bmg.. don't have a need for those anyway. :)

if 375H&Hm or 416rigby won't take it down.. I'm running!

I am really clear on the difference between .223 and 5.56. I have the 5.56 and plan on buying 5.56 rounds (although .223 will work).
I just wasn't sure why some listed the 5.56 as just 5.56 and some listed it as 5.56x45mm.
(You know, like there is a big difference between .45 and .45-70)
I understand now that they are the same, so I ordered some.
Thanks again.

Also I just signed up for CCW (for my Glock, not the AR-15) :)
And also signed up for Intro to AR-15

Training is always a good idea. My son use to teach CWP, Beginning Handgun, Advanced Handgun, Beginning and Advanced AR, Patrol Rifle and some other stuff. It is surprising how many people including those who have shot quite some time really don't know what they are doing or whose proficiency/safety can be improved in a relatively short time.

Bo,

Come on over to my place, bring 2-5 boxes of ammo and I'll teach you this class for free...
some Fam Fire, some OBL targets, and you will be VERY WELL intorduced to the AR-15...

:D

I reload mainly just for the increase in accuracy, and being able to shoot the grain and type of bullet I wish. I reload for the 223 mainly because I hunt coyotes quote often and minute of angle docent matter much at 150 yards but to make consistent hits at 450 is a different story. Even with 1/4 inch groups 450 yards is a long way.I also load for 7mm mag 243win, 243short mag, 45-70,221firball, 308, 25-06, 22-250. and have reloaded for more. And I'm still learning.

how do you like that 221f and the 7mmmag?

I really like the 221 f it's recoil is noticeably less than the 223 but velocity os very close and is actualy superior to the 223 in accuracy . I have it in a rem700 fluted ss light varmint and I use it more than the 223 for coyotes, it is quite capable up to 250 y which is were most my shots are at.another thing I like about the 221 is recoil is just light enough to never lose sight of your target so you can see were you hit through the scope The 7rem mag is by fav bigger game I have a 300 win mag but recoil can get to you I find the 7 flatter shooting with less recoil and comparable energy. Now if I was cornered by a brown bear I'd rather have the 300 but even more I'd rather have the 45/70

for target work I have a rem00 in 222 and I have that 218bee which is fun to shoot. havn't shot 7mm mag yet.. how would you compair it with 3006 ?

The 222 is one of my favorites and have owned several I got rid of them only because it was to easy to mix up brass between the 223 and the 222 they look to much alike. The 7 mm mag will do anything a 3006 will do but with more longer range hits . The ballistic coefficient and sectional density is better on the 7mm bullets than the 30 caliber . It also has a higher velocity compared to the 06 but will only handle175 g bullets which puts it at a disadvantage in energy at very close range on the largest of n American game. Still I prefer the 7mm rem mag.
