heres a crouse hinds style lug. it simply lugs down into the smaller neutral lugs. there are many different styles available. come have split bases and lug under several smaller existing lugs. get a pic of what you are dealing with. i can copy it and ask my sales rep if the picture is detailed enough

Siemens took over crouse hinds, and parts are still available. I deal with Siemens alot.

I looked at those and am having sort of a hard time figuring out how they wood work for me. How can I reduce the wire size and still be able to handle 200 Amps? Am I missing something?

I'd really like to see a pic of your panel and the wires.. something just isn't right here,, I'v never seen a 200a panel that couldn't take 4/0 wire,,

As for the Unitaps read this about tap conductors..In your case you can reduce the conductor size by 1/3 rd. and still be able to handle 200a..

Again a pic would make things much easyer..

Somehow we got our wires crossed I think.:confused2: The main breaker has two 4/0 wires that come out of the meter base and hook into the breaker itself.

Are these connectors used to connect between the meter and the main panel disconnect? I would assume that then I would need to stub out from this connector to an additional 200Amp disconnect switch panel next to the panel box then out to the shop????

OKay....I have 400 Amp service to my house. I want to split that and use 200 of it down at my barn. I have already pretty much emptied the second panel that will feed the barn now I just need to somehow hook these big azz 4/0 wires into the buss on the empty 200 amp service panel.

Sorry for taking so long......MAN!! We have been getting some bad storms over the past week and they have been knocking out the power as soon as they fix it. We still have almost a million people out of service and they are calling for more storms everyday. Just my luck I have had a transfer switch hooked up to my panel box every since last Aug when we had the big hurricane and wouldn't you know it I decided to clean out the one panel it was hooked to and moved those circuits to the other box. I would have went ahead and hooked the switch back up but I would have had to move the switch because the wires were too short to reach and I just left it off until I made all my changes and rewire it then. Well wouldn't you know it that as soon as it was disconnected, removed from the wall and packed back in the box the first of many storms hit and put us out of service. They got us back on about three hours later so I didn't need the genny. Then about one in the morning another one came through and knocked it out again. When I got up I figured it was a good time to get the genny out of the box and running. By the time I got it put together and gassed up the power was back on so I rolled it back into the garage and closed the door, at least I would be ready for the next one.LOL

It was about 2:00PM by then and I went back to work on a few things I had to do in the new shop and at around 3:30 I heard the alert come over the radio that we had a severe thunderstorm watch and about 15 minutes it changed to a warning, then came the tornado watch and warning with reports of funnel cloud sightings in several locations and at 4:15 we lost power again. Who cares right? I have a new genny. Well I forgot that my power cable I made up had 4 prong twist lock ends on it and now that the transfer switch was not up anymore I didn't have any way to plug it in. No problem I'll just switch the twist lock plug to a 4 prong welder plug and plug it into one of my welder plugs. I know I had several laying around but they did one heck of a job hiding and I couldn't find any of them.

Finally I went to the barn and got a spare 50Amp breaker and took the end off my cable and wired it to the breaker and added some wire to the ground and neutral and ran them to the gr and N terminal bar in the box tripped the main service breaker and fired up the genny. I figured I would have to cut off some of the circuits.....I know I would have with the old genny, but this new one has big balls and it would keep up with the whole house minus the kitchen range and my equipment in the garage which I wasn't using anyway. I had lights in the whole house, well pump, fridg, microwave, coffee maker, even the AC running and had some to spare. It was also nice to just hit the start switch and not have to pull on a rope to get her going. Yep I love my new XG8000E Generac, it's a sweet little machine.

OH where was I.......that's right, you wanted a pic of the boxes let me see what I can do.
