Does anyone know of an American made jack system?

I did exactly that on my 16' flatbed. I picked up a couple swivel jacks at Harbor Freight and welded them on. They work great. No need to crank them all the way to the ground to use either, just leave them with about 1" clearance when being used, then just swivel them out of the way when moving the trailer. They work really nice when I'm having a forklift load items, no ramps to contend with.

Holy crap... What the heck were they thinking? A couple 2x10's. Lucky none of those geniuses were killed.

Heck, I felt more sorry for the tractor!!

View attachment 271043View attachment 271044View attachment 271045View attachment 271046I purchased 2 - 5,000 # trailer tongue swing jacks that came with a welding tube for my 16' trailer. Took less than 30 minutes to install... and work perfect. i can drive my tractor onto trailer without any lifting of the truck or bouncing of the trailer.

I can either swing the jacks up afterwords or pull the pin and remove them to prevent theft of the jacks.
I have the same jacks for loading my B2910. One nice feature of this setup, is that trailer can be loaded/unloaded without being attached to truck. Just block wheels on trailer.

I have a learning experience to share as well. I was loading logs, big logs mind you, onto my trailer with my front loader. I was unable to lift the entire log at once so I would lift one end and place it on the back of the trailer then push it on from behind. Anyone see where this story is heading? Oh did I mention my truck was on a gravel drive and also on top of a hill (before I started this process anyway)? I was smart enough to set the parking brake but not smart enough the chock my wheels or support the back of the trailer. As I was pushing on the first log I noticed the truck scooting in the rocks but still felt I could get the log the rest of the way on. I was wrong! My truck quickly picked up speed and darted off the driveway through a forest and came to rest at the bottom I the 300' hill jack-knifed. I must have been living right because the rig missed every tree and the trailer was about 1/8" away from my truck fender in the end. I did have to cut down a tree to get out of my predicament and wish I would have videoed it. Definitely could have won $10,000 on AFV.

A couple pieces of 6x6 under the frame works well. Throw them in the truck when done. Low cost and works well.
The main problem I have with jacks mounted on the side will be that time you forget to raise one before you take off. It will happen.

Have purchased a new 18' trailer to haul my Kubota 2800 w/FEL on. I have been blocking the end of the dovetail with timbers to keep the rear of the trailer from sinking and the front from raising the rear of my truck when loading.

Wonder if I could install jacks at the rear of the trailer by welding on the round pipe to a plate and bolt that to the sidewalls of the trailer frame to get a "straight" lift at the dovetail. I imagine that I would need a 5000lb. jack on either side?

Not having said jack in hand, could it be removed from the pipe which is welded to the frame? Using the pin to hold the jack in line during use, then it could be removed from the trailer for the haul, if that is possible. I tend to "snag" things, and would like to be able to remove the jack if possible.

I use a pair of these $30 jack stands from Tractor Supply to keep the front of my 2004 Isuzu NPR stakebed from lifting when loading a small parade tractor (less than 4000 lb)

They fit under the structure welded to the back end of the stakebed.

Or drive off and forget the 6x6 ?

the problem with 6x6's or other wood blocks, is after you load the tractor...the trailer sags and locks the block inplace. At least with the jack stands i can turn the handle and swivle the jack out without having to move the load first.

I use blocks and haven't had that problem -- you don't pack the blocks tight.

That's why I like the swing-away legs!

I just idle the truck forward a bit and the stand/block/whatever comes right out.

A couple pieces of angle iron welded to a short piece of pipe and a longer pipe for the stand......drill a few holes and you are good to go. I opted to bolt the assembly to the trailer....mainly so I wouldn't have to clean out the shop in order to back the trailer to the welder.:drink:

Absolutely. In fact, I ordered my PJ trailer with exactly the setup that you describe.

After one occasion of loading my L3400 and having the back end of the pickup go up in the air, and the entire rig rolling down the hill, I wouldn't want to be without the jacks.
