Some QA setups increase the spacing of the pins which gives you a little more reach but also affects the leverage of the hoe because of the geometry change.
Thanks for your detailed and thoughtful comments. I was wondering about how the coupler might affect the bucket geometry. My Woods bucket has two sets of mounts for the bucket link pin. One is presumably fast and the other a more powerful position. As I am nearly always more interested in power than speed I need to make sure an coupler is designed to mount to the bucket power setting.
I already know that a coupler will disrupt the thumb to bucket geometry at least in length so the thumb teeth will no longer meet the bucket teeth and interdigitate (?interdentitate) properly. The malocclusion shouldn't matter for picking up logs or big rocks but it will mean that items smaller than the 6 inches or so (of added length from the coupler) will no longer be clamped. I guess I'll have to stop picking up dimes and pebbles.
I haven't been able to get Amulet on the phone yet today. I presume they have dealt with these issues before. Their website is pretty sparse on detail at this point so it is hard to tell whether they actually stock these couplers or make them up semi custom. I know that the Woods for example needs different size pins for the main and bucket link pins but the demo model they photographed and show in action has identical pin sizes. If they make them up on a semi custom basis I suppose it would be easy to specify some of the other dimensions too.
