3-PT Concrete Counterweight

On my Barrel I put a 2 inch receiver on the back, it has been very handy, and I put in 3 pvc 2 inch pipes all the way to the bottom for handle tools, and have 2 6 inch pvc for chain organizers on top of the concrete. I wish I had put 4 PVC pipes in. I like your trapezoidal shape, but I would have put in the 4 PVC, the 2 inch receiver, the notch for the top link, and some kind of bins on top (after pouring concrete) to carry chains and chainsaw, and other tools. Which you can still do, but the 2 inch receiver and the pipe is gonna be kinda hard, perhaps you could use anchors and put the pipes on the sides. I like the way the trapazoid allows the spacing to be right on the lower links, yet allows a heavier overall weight of concrete.. I am still learning on how to make the "perfect" ballast box:)

Nice weights! All they need now is a little finishing touch with some orange paint and "KUBOTA" painted in black with a stencil. Different tool holders etc. could always be added later if desired using concrete tapcons.

Nice! Do you find it performs well with your setup?

I can lift mine with the upper arm attachment...I welded numerous pieces of rebar to it below the concrete...it isn't coming out. My weight actually balances on the lower arms as planned but when lifting from the top is not at a balance point.

I think I have the weight about right, for the lifting I do. W/O the counterweight, a bucketload of crusher run really made the rear light, even with loaded tires. Now it's very stable.
My weight isn't as pretty as yours.:ashamed: I used some junk OSB, and you can see all the grain transfered into the cement. Maybe some Kubota orange paint would make it look better.:D

I figure I will let it cure for a year then could bondo any irregularities and paint it up. I doubt I will ever get that ambitious but there is always hope (I keep telling my wife that).:ashamed:

I lined my plywood with plastic sheeting...made things pretty smooth.

Just thinking. I have a 3PH adapter that I built for my SSQA on my loader. I could use it to attach the counterweight to the loader.
I wonder if I could drive in small wood fence posts (sharpened) with it???
Or am I just nuts?:scratchchin:

I don't think 1,000 lbs will push a wood post in...maybe a steel post. I also wouldn't want to hang that weight off of a quicktach adapter. Should make yourself a diesel powered piledriver. They are actually very simplistic and probably could be manufactured in a garage. A metal weight falling in a cylinder with a metered amount of diesel fuel being introduced as the weight falls.

I would have to ask your wife if you are nuts...I know what mine would say about me.
