I am having out guys do a test today on the 6011 and we hope to show some results!

Send that puppy to me, I'll give it a test drive!:drool: One of the members here brought over his Stickweld 250 for me to help him with his welding. I don't remember running any 6010, but it ran 7018 as good as any machine I've ever run. We even hooked up my Tig rig to it, and it welded great!:thumbsup:

Hmmm, can't seem to find anyone who sells esab electrodes online. May need to visit my welding store .... Hearing too many good things about these rods!

I'd be real careful buying 7018 on line. Most venders do not know how to package them:thumbdown:. And the flux is so easy to get knocked off during shipping. AirGas generally carries ESAB products.

I was just curious about the price. You are right about the flux getting knocked off. When I first started to use 7018, that's the second thing I noticed. The flux is so much easier to knock off compared to 6011. The first thing I noticed was how much larger the deposition rate was! LOL

Nearest TSC is in the next state. Too far to go just for that. But i think I pass by when I go to my friends farmhouse in ME. I'll have to remember to stop in next time.

I don't think TSC carries the 335A. From what I can tell the packaging only says Hobart E6011.
I noticed also that their picture of it shows it as a very light color. The picture of the Hobart E6011 335A that Airgas shows on their website, is a dark gray.

Shield Arc, what is the color of the 335A that you bought?
On the Hobart Brothers website, they show the plain E6011 (made by McKay??), as well as the 335A and 335C versions.

I'm thinking that maybe TSC carries only the plain Hobart E6011 that's made by McKay.

With a 50lb minimum order I'm going to have to pass on that.
Tomorrow I'll stop by my LWS and see what he has available. I can probably get two of anything he has as a sample, but I need to find a source for smaller than 1/8 rods (LWS doesn't have much under 1/8) so I can run the welder on 120 volts(90 amp output).

I happened to notice that Airgas does sell the 335A also in the 5lb and 10lb packaging. I think I'll stop by and pick up a 5lb box and try it out myself. :thumbsup:

Thanks Simon, I haven't given up yet.
I'll have more time on the weekend to try any other rods that I can come up with by then.

Plus I've allready cut off the plug. Doesn't seem fair to return or exchange it now.

Finding rods smaller than 1/8" is a bit of a pain. Doesn't help when the local welding stores are a bit out of the way. I'll need to let my fingers do the walking and see who's carrying thinner rods of the esab and Hobart.
