Hi Dan,

I had one of our welders David, weld with a Lincoln's standard fleet weld rods and he stated the machine is capable of doing it just dialing it in is the most important part. I took some photos of the weld, which he says he is not proud of, but something that will show it works and is doable.

His settings were 75amps, DCEP, and he did a root and cover on A36 Hot Rolled 1/4' plate

If you wish to speak with him, please give us a call within the next hour. He will also be in tomorrow to discuss.

Hmm. Not sure when you posted, post time is way off.
Anyway I'll give that a try next chance I get. If he doesn't mind, could he see what amperage for 6011 1/8".

Dan! Thanks for calling in and I hope David was able to help you out. His extension is 208 if you need to call back. Also, he mentioned the key point is to keep a very tight arc length so the arc does not go out and you maximize your arc stability!

He will be in tomorrow, and we look forward to seeing what else you need.

Shield arc: very nice very nice tie in, I here a helicopter coming in to land on it !!

Cnc Dan: congrats on new machine. I love welding with new machines but not working with new machine. Like marriage it is going to take some time to get used to one another. Personally I run 6010/11 at 85-110 amps for 1/8". Have it cool enough the puddle is less water more butter. I like to be able to push on it with the arc. 6011 will always run better overall. 6010 is a rod with purpose and not all are equal. The 5p is a firecracker and the +++++'s are way more stable at lower amps. Look for what your machine likes. My .02$. Please keep posting your test results. Most of the time if it works for 1/8" 60xx it will work for 3/32" 7018.

Thanks Simon. I just figured a way to measure the voltage while I'm welding: cell phone video!
OT has been cut off at work so I should have time tomorrow afternoon. Could you have David or someone measure the voltage while the arc is on, with both 3/32"-6011 and 1/8"-6011. And then just for fun some 3/32"-7018 and 1/8"-7018.

I'd like to compare what you get with what I get.

Have you tried any 6011?

mine runs 1/8 6011 no problem. mine is on 220.the everlast unit restarts good.it looks about like yours.except with tig option.amperage between 100 to 120 seems normal to me.

i guess i could talk about how i use mine.i like esab 7018 rods got boxes of them also use hobart 6011.anyway been using the everlast to weld small welds in tight places .welded some stainless but basically either 1/8 6011 or 3/32 7018. i really liked the inverter arc restarts are no problem.it must have a auto hot start built in because there is no adjustment.if you have another question please ask?
