Many trials n tribulations with this tractor. if this flushing dont do it. im seriously thinkin im gunna be takin off the cap n goin in like u sed. i got it back tagether n ran it fur bout 15 minutes. it wuz still liftin. i lost lite n tamarows another day. the full flow in the pic is the burst as i pulled the plug on the first flush with diesel. theres a pic were im holdin a chunk. yep, pulled it out wen i reached in ta feel the bottom of the case thru the filter hole. hopin i wuznt gunna find zactlee wut i found. i.e. chunks... not good. it's cast like. machined. the third n fourth pics show im prolly gunna wind up havin ta pull the cap off ta clean it bedher. at this rate... well, i aint gunna git it all, not just by flushin like this.
n of course the last pic is of ur dirty lilredfox. with a smile showin such graditute, thanks, n appriciation, fur the guided challenge, without lack of criticism, as well as encouragment n name calling while at the same time, being cheered on to indure more of all TBN has to offer. all of wich are lessons ta learn on letting my heart not be troubled, along my journey with the TBN men
:fox:
That looks like a peice of a shift fork.

I don't like the looks of the tooth piece (I think it's a tooth). If the 1700 has the diff lock like the 1710, it might be worth looking to see if someone stepped on the lever when things were spinning too fast. On the 1710, the lever is on the right side, so I figure that's where it locks up the rear.

i thot i wuz dun doin gearboxes fur.... well. longer than it's been. thats fur dagum sure. lining sum gears up can be a bit of a challange id rather bypass. Last gearbox i busted open wuz my enco bandsaw. it wuz slippin. wuznt any of the normal things. nope, couldnt be that easy. specially wen i had a bunch of blank railroad spike i hadda git cut fur the demo i's doin. i wound up splittin the gearbox only to find the set screw had wiggled its way out, sending the key on it's way... persay. didnt look like it damaged the gears tho. hadda walk away n give it a rest wen i wuz linin them gears up. toppa the lid had gears n the gears inside the unit itself. wudda journey that wuz. finally, got ta run it n it slipped again. found that the pure imitation harder that titanium plastic had decided it wuznt gunna be responsible fur lockin the speed control into postion no more. had self combusted internally. Yep. broke clean. i've welded plastic but this dont melt. it just crispifies n collapses.
thanks fur lettin me share a flash frum the past

i finished sharpenin the blades n greasin the hub on the bush hog, so i hadda load up the bush hog n haul it to Bf's farm taday, time ta plant n feed deer. wuznt able ta tinkerin on the tractor. my dumbass left the key in the on position last nite. hadda jump it this mornin. Ol Blu picked up the bushhog, without any hesitation and put it on the trailor. so far it hasnt leaked while under load. and it lifts n lowers without hesitation as well. I wound up bringin the quad back so i can flush the bad gas oudda the tank n rebuild the carb again.fuel sure dont last long down here. 4 yrs ago wen i first arrived here in florida i brought 5 of my motorcycles with me. 2 yrs later, they all fired up, no problem. they all had gas in em from nevada too. the gas in nevada did not go bad in that 2 yrs. i never had to worry bout gas goin bad out west like i do here. Oh My God. bad inna week in unreal.
i really think i should get started on the fuel system on the tractor. i dont like running it without that filter system operational. not even havin ta run it to test the hydraulics. So, on that note. Lord willing tamarow i'll git goin on that. unless i can git the tranny filter to plug within a few minutes. forgive my hesitation in hoping.
i dont doubt my ability, i doubt i got all the debri, out of the tranny.

It's the ethanol in the fuel. It absorbs water from the air much faster than the old gas. I use Seafoam liberally in my bikes to prevent this. Two-stroke fuel gets a fuel stabilizer too now (Star-zyme or something like that). I've had a lot of problems with small 2 stroke engines in the last 3-4 years, until my Stihl dealer mentioned this additive.

yep. seafoam is wut i use now. good juice. and I cant agree with u more. i bot a bran new stihl aggressive cutter and within a months time. the cap would no longer seal. i took it back into george n he informed me that the dealer has sent them a new batch of gas caps cuzz the fuel is makin them swell n not seal. i havent been able to ride in bout 4 months now. i no im gunna have to drain the system n do the carb on my dirtbike. wun week the gas is good n the next it's bad. at the price of gas nowdays this is crazy. i have 3 chainsaws and a leaf blower in my shop, i have to rebuild the carbs on as well as drain the fuel tanks on. seems my winter wirk load is piling up. but tractor is my main concern at this point. n i told em all that wen they dropped off there equipment for me to go thru. there is still a cuple places i can git pure fuel from, without the ethanol in it.
