Anyone else have a 6.4L ford diesel?

The oil squirter that is in the block. They spray the bottom of the piston. They found them when changing the oil. Both times were done when the dealer(I work for this dealer group) changed the oil.

Improperly put in, simple as that. Either they were torqued in properly, or not loctited in properly. It's a very, very rare failure. If you're friend has had it happen to him twice, I would tell him to go play the lottery.

Lol...they are both factory shortblocks.

Must not be that rare. The tech who replaced the shortblock both times is a good friend of mine(he was my team leader when I was a Ford tech) and he just kinda shrugged his shoulders like 'whatever.'

I like the Ford trucks the most of the big 3, but you couldn't give me a post 7.3 Ford diesel. I'm not interested in mods or any of that. I just want a reliable truck that pulls well, gets good fuel mileage and is easy to service.

Ford 6.7 vs Dodge 6.7...

V8 vs Straight 6... So... yeah, the ford is going to look more complicated.

And as for the piston cooling jets falling out... I looked all over every powerstroke forum I'm on. And I haven't read anything about them falling out in the 6.4L's. 7.3L's most people tac welded them on if they were doing boosted applications.

Again, my point is to all the Big 3 makers - if you want an engine you don't have to tinker with, don't buy a post-emissions engine.
