Farmers kids. They have to spend a crap ton every year to offset income at tax time

Chris

You havn't tried farming have ya? Just stick to praising ford products, bashing all others, reminding us how many vechicles you have, and what you do for a living.

my observations on the 6.0L, from having one, and knowing many people who do.

for the record, my 6.0L has a programmer, has an aftermarket egr cooler, factory replacement oil cooler, gaskets and studs. original turbo and original injectors (it needs 2 injectors now)

A lot of the original 6.0L problems started because the dealers were misdiagnosing problems and throwing parts at them. Ford didnt offer enough training/documentation to the dealers to help them do their jobs properly.

also, the EGR systems on these trucks, cummins included, really needs the truck to be WORKED. daily driving them at 5% of their capability, is really not good for them. you get a lot of build up and basic problems start.
the truck was designed to be worked, i know mine runs better when its hooked to my 10K lb enclosed trailer.
Also, people started modding them with programmers, aftermarket turbos etc, but not monitoring their gauges or knowing enough to do it safely. Of course increasing your boost pressure beyond what is factory is going to cause more pressure in the cylinder, hence heads lifting.

but this is just an opinion from a guy who is generally happy with his 6.0L

Two of my uncles are farmers. Both farm about 4000 acres each and one keeps 850 head of cattle. Neither one of them are hurting with boats, cars, equipment, trucks, and one has a airplane and two helicopters.

They are really hurting. Lol

Don't get me wrong, they work their butts off but they are not hurting. I have worked for them as a younger man. Its a tough life. One is in Cabo right now.

I know how the game is played.

Is that legal? If you want to purchase the extended warranty- during the time the original warranty is still in effect, how can Ford refuse to sell you coverage?? That alone would force a lot of people to sue out of a basic sense of fairness... I feel for you, The fact that you bought another Ford, after problems with the earlier truck- shows you have given Ford more than a little brand loyalty.. I hope they honor the warranty, you get that extended coverage and the truck gives you the next 100000+ miles of trouble free service..

I bought the extended warranty on my 06. I tried to use it for the turbo and egr replacement after ford said no. They said they weren't covering those repairs anymore. I wanted to climb through the phone and beat someone. Ford brings out the worst in me. Ford is garbage to me. I will never buy another ford. They lost me on the 6.0. $40,000 piece of garbage.

I have not seen one make it past 125,000 without issue. .

mine did.

the other one at work did have to have the egr replaced due to leaks..

past that neither have had anything other than normal truck issues.. ( ball joints.. maintenance items..e tc.. )

Farms must be different where you are. The "big" farms around here are 750 to 1000 acres and have 100 to 200 head. Farming isnt a game to be played, it is a way to make a living, and barely at that.

Ethanol rules things here. 4000 acres is a little above average but not much. Hobby farmers have 750 to 1000 acres and work a full time job like my buddy Jerry who is a welder or Ron who works for the phone company.

Go way west and 25,000 acres is not uncommon. Its a business, big business, not just a way of making a living and getting by.

Every year after the harvest you see them spending like crazy. If not they just pay taxes on it. Equipment can be depriciated to the point it cost little or nothing.

Everything else on those trucks were great. Luck of the draw I suppose.

Been said here before but.. Best truck would be a ford body an Allison trans and a cummins motor.

I had no idea the 6.0,6.4 could be such problem engines, I gotta say I feel blessed owning an (old) 2003 5.9 cummins powered dodge with only affordibly fixable problems (so far) and lucky that its the one year available with hpcr but no egr,no cat,no dpf or fluid injection, not that the dodges are any jewel, my nephew bought a new Dodge 2500 6.7 automatic, trans had to be pulled-rebuilt at 3000 miles, then started shifting funny-then after the computer could not force self tests of trans functions and going without a new truck for over 2 months, he turned it back, ordered a manual trans version. So far so good but he's not loving the mileage and at oil change time it's got a quart of diesel mixed in the engine oil...
